what wrong with i havent changed mine in 4 years

iirc differences are measurable but doesn't seem to really affect the user experience so much
Nothing wrong with stock paste. Just put some new stuff on after 5 years if your CPU is running a little hotter than usual.

It's not bad at all, but depending on how much you plan to push everything, you'd want better stuff

if you're bad at using a PC sure
So you're saying PCs require you to learn how to use them.. there's a reason someone might use a console.

They require a basic level of competency, yes

Honestly, aside from learning how to build a computer, PC gaming itself is about as easy to set up as console gaming thanks to the past decade and a half of standardization.

Prior to about 2008, PC gaming was sort of a crapshoot in terms of compatibility.

If people get confused about names like Wii U and Xbox One X how are they supposed to know what a 12400+6650xt is supposed to mean

This I 100% agree with. It wasn't until 2010 or so where I actually got into PC gaming and found that I don't really need to fiddle with settings to get a good experience "right out of the box"

Totally, and also for as much as I hate NVIDIA as a company, software like GeForce Experience is wonderful for people who don't have the savvy to manually tweak game settings to get good performance. It was a really great idea for novice PC gamers.

Basically right now since Microsoft is going hard for PC, for this gen it's basically: Low end is XSS, Mid-range is PS5's/XSX, High end is PC.

The upside of PC is both price and performance can be tweaked to meet what you want for it.

There's really very little difference in any of it this gen, and the few exclusives there are are... either old games or not really noteworthy thus far.

Due to the success of the Switch it wouldn't surprise me if Switch 2 slots itself right as the low end and gets a lot more third party support.

It doesn't make sense to restrict games to high end machines anymore. That's going to include the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Even Valve is going to push the Steam Deck too.

People are getting to be more mobile again, as things loosen up restrictions wise. I can definitely see the future of gaming in handheld/home hybrids.

IIRC the Series X is roughly equivalent to between the RTX 2080 Ti and RTX 3070, so from a cost to performance metric you're not going to get similar performance with a $500 PC. But as with any console generation, the longer the generation goes on, the further behind the consoles get.

Honestly, there haven't been many things in the way of genuine graphical improvements, it's all just gimmicky shit. As a result, horsepower through games with a PC can be done with cheap hardware that's basically equivalent to the consoles.

Mining causing a spike in GPU pricing might be something to consider.

RT is quite a big deal, but 4k60 & RT enabled are basically impossible for several games without something like DLSS.

Its not a gimmick, just being pushed too early
