So what's with all of these shows that don't take part after the movies?

Did they shoot themselves in the foot? No new jedi order. Sequel trilogy is in the exact same spot as the OT. Except worse actually

Why did they fuck up so hard.

Do a gritty continuation of Rey's story where she is badly disfigured in a fight & turns into a white-clad Darth Vader basically

Make it like a Metroid Fusion thing

Because there are a lot of interesting periods of Star Wars history in between, and in other regions.

Right. And that's all they have done.

Disney is scared to go too far forward or to far backward. The galactic history is like 30,000 years old. But most of that stuff was erased when the old Expanded Universe was deleted. I would really like to explore the beginning of civilization, which even old Expanded universe only ever hinted at.

Every species in the galaxy used to be enslaved by an empire called the Infinite Empire. Run by aliens. Humans were slaves. Then a disease killed off the species in charge, and everyone got free and began all the civilizations we now know

Maybe do a series about that

another idea is explore the first discovery of the Dark Side, and the ensuing Civil War amongst the ancient Jedi when the Dark Siders eventually left to become Sith

Infinite Empire is talked about in Knights of the Old Republic

Jedi civil war is briefly talked about in the mmo The Old Republic, in quests on the jedi starting planet

For people new to the idea, I sort of can understand the Infinite Empire sounding bizarre I guess. But I don't see what is so weird about the Jedi Civil War. Its a pretty logical explanation of what probably happened in their history. The only people who would have a problem with it I guess are people who refuse to ever accept that there was ever a Sith Empire. People who cling to pure Lucas lore on the number of Sith in the galaxy

The Rule of Two never made sense. Even if Sith wanted it to be a thing, you cant enforce that. In a galaxy of trillions of people, there would be unofficial sith all over the place. People would research the dark side and do their own thing. Maybe you'd have even a bunch of different Two's. All claiming to be the real sith

How do you decide who is the pretender though? What if unofficial sith uncover sith knowledge that the "official sith" don't have, and it leads to greater power. This isn't like some royal family thing. Anyone has the potential to be the greater sith. In comics and books and games set in star wars, the galaxy is filled with artifacts that can empower people. Also anyone can be born with greater power. What if there are "official sith " but some new person is born with a massive connection to the force and ends up slaughtering the official sith

Just using the dark side doesn't make you a Sith, "unofficial" Sith aren't a thing.

The Rule of Two is really more of the Guideline of Two anyway, there's always the two main Sith and they usually both have secret apprentices on the side. But it makes sense to a degree given that any time the Sith have raised any kind of Sith army, they inevitably fall to infighting because they're inherently power hungry. Limiting their numbers is really the only option.

You guys are all missing my point. How will 2 Sith enforce a rule to ban more Sith, all over an entire galaxy? And how you will prevent people from being born with stronger force powers than you? Or how will you stop people from finding artifacts that you didn't know existed?

The Rule of Two is dumb and it just makes star wars more boring

Makes sense for an army, but I'd imagine you would get a Sorcerer's apprentice situation before long regardless. The Sith Master and Apprentice; the Master has a few Apprentices all told they're the only one. Because even if two is a rule, he's a Sith and he likes to screw the rules. He'll kill the ones he doesn't like someday, but until then those Apprentices are like "I'm going to secretly take my own Apprentices so I can be the Master too" (This is a step before they try to kill their Master). And some of those guys are like "Hey, I can be a Master if I take a couple Apprentices..." And soon there's a ton of Sith all in different stages of training all getting some actual training like some kind of murder based pyramid scheme.

I think they want to make sure they get it very, very right. It's a beloved setting, on par in the fandom with the original trilogy and prequels.

If they do a TV show/film series telling the story of something like KotoR, they had better get their absolute A-team on it.
