Should have taken Elliots deal.

1. It's a high paying job.
2. He gets a good medical plan.
3. He doesn't have to kill anyone or cook meth.

Sounds right.

The counterargument is:

1. It's charity. What about his pride?
2. He might die of cancer before he saves up enough for his family(as in, he has a disabled son and a baby on the way)

Of course. Arguments one and two contradict each other. Walt did it for his pride and not for his family.

Not to mention...he could get stabbed by some random drug dealer next time he starts. Day 1.

So taking the chance with Elliot and cancer was better than going into the world of drugs again.

There's no good reason not to, the only reason he refuses is because he's a petty piece of shit

Water breaking is bad when you're at only 28 weeks.

Oh, wait, I think I misread that.

Seriously, I wish more stories would double down on the tragic flaws their characters have. It's always "Aha! I'm such an asshole!" and then, "Omg you're such an asshole" and then the character goes "Wow I am an asshole, I am going to stop now!" It's never, "Walt, you're a piece of shit" followed by "You're god damn right."

Like, can the story not be about how a character is flawed and the consequences they face because of it? I feel like any time a character flaw is shown, it has to be shoved in their face so they can fix it. It's boring. Let people suck.

It's even more petty once you learn why he and Gretchen broke up. Maybe I'm the only one who thought this, but I thought Gretchen cheated on him with Elliot which at least gives some semblance of a reason as to why Walt isn't crazy about taking their charity.

But no, he dumped Gretchen because he was insecure about how wealthy her family was.

It's very draining to watch, and requires deft writing to be watchable. Breaking Bad had absolute geniuses working on it.

Because, the show would have essentially been "Walter gets a better job!" and the series would be done halfway through the first episode.

If you have a show about somebody who actually is 100% hopeless and just does things with little consequence there's no tension. It's supposed to be frustrating to watch.
