Was the anime that popular

They've got the anime to thank for. It's captures the world so much better than the game. Like the trauma team and maxtac guys are actually dangerous. The cyberpsychosis people are actually scary.

Does make me want to redownload and play the game but once I think about the actual game, I don't want to play anymore.

I never played it

Not because of the bugs or some campaign against cdprojektred but just because it really didn't look interesting.

Anyone else in the same boat? Feels like so much of the screaming has been about how shitty the game was mechanically, I haven't heard anyone talk much about how stale cyber/steampunk dystopias have become in media.

I mean if a game about a cyberpunk dysopia where you play as fucking cat wasn't enough of a telltale sign that this is overdone, I dunno what else to tell ya.

That said I suppose Witcher fantasy "Tolkeinesq mixed with fairy tales" wasn't exactly original either

Somewhat, yeah. Netflix-exclusive anime tend to get extremely overlooked due to not being available on Crunchyroll, but in Edgerunner's case the fact that it makes a good case for being the best anime this year (and certainly the best one airing this season) means that it got a lot more traction than they normally have.

Stray isn't Cyberpunk. Having robots does not make something cyberpunk.

And no, I didn't particularly find 2077 stale. If anything its setting was easily the highlight as it was one of the few games that actually attempts cyberpunk proper (though to some extent you can say that's a bit debatable if you are a cyberpunk purist) and basically the only one that actually did it well.

I didn't say it wasn't.

Spiderman No Way Home is a good movie.

But I can't argue with anyone who says Superhero movies are overdone and "Let's just throw every character at all the wall and hopefully sheep will watch it." doesn't demonstrate that.

It's now passed more all time concurrent players than Witcher 3

Played it for the first time on PS5 earlier this year. Real good shit.

Cyberpunk 2077 is good for what it is. Great story, great characters, great voice acting.

Just a shame they didn't advertise it as that if they couldn't reach the open world they wanted.

Great game.

They are definitely going to include it in a humble bundle at some point and thats what Im waiting for
