There's definitely like 4 or 5 extreme tonal shifts in the movie. It does it well.

I think I get her. The tone jumps around a bit, but like the poster above me said; they handle it well. It's like a really suspenseful, somewhat dark comedy that gets more disturbing as it goes on and everything starts coming together.

Saw it today, great movie.

To those interested in seeing it: don't watch the trailers, especially the second one (I think?)

Just watched it. It did go a bit off the rails at the end... The cops were by far the worst part of the movie. It was still decent.

The thing about the cops and some of the other characters in the movie did kind of make me a bit confused. To me, at least, I got the impression that the movie was implying that the people around/familiar with the neighborhood know about the mother residing in the house and just actively avoids the area, especially at night. Which was why you had the homeless guy, obviously, that interview lady who got really nervous, the scene with the cops, and the dispatcher who refused to send a car out.
