Not because its in the game or on the soundtrack, but because its something you happened to be into while playing the game.

Nirvanas Big Cheese came up in my car on my lunch break just now and I was struck with memories of playing Castlevania on Game Boy Advance. I remember an old Korn album Ill always associate with Final Fantasy X.

Not the same thing, but

I always think of the Phantom Train part of FF6 when I listen to Stop This Train by John Mayer. They're both depressing and deal with the realization of death being inevitable. Both most importantly, they both have trains.

Not any one song in particular. The only time I ever listen to music while gaming is while grinding on MMO's. Otherwise, I just listen to the in-game music. So that's like a 7-8 year span of music that I listened to while leveling up, but that's like 1,000+ songs across multiple genres lol

There's a lot of songs that I only know because of the GTA series of games.

But as far as songs that aren't associated with a game, but make me think of a game is (and it's an odd one) whenever I hear anything by the band Creedence Clearwater Revival, I think of the game "Cool Spot" for Sega Genesis.

I rented it one weekend back in 1994, and spent an entire Saturday playing the game and listening to CCR's greatest hits album. I just kept playing the album on repeat until I finally beat the game.

Why I never changed out the CD for a different one, I have no idea.

I used to listen to one of Shakiras earlier albums while playing OoT. Some of the songs fit really well with the Gerudo desert since she's half Lebanese and some of her songs have that influence.
