Medium muted synth violin. It's on a lower tone so it probably has a special name in the sound banks. It could be a synth clarinet too. It's hard to tell with synth.

Yeah it sounds like a weird oboe but with higher pitch. I dont think its a violin.

Do you mean the one that starts playing the main part at around 0:52? Sounds like a synth oboe to me.

I don't mind being wrong. I've used cakewalk so much back in the day and so many weird instruments that it skewed my perception. Knowing real instruments was 6th grade to say 12th. After high school I went digital. Went to Yanni concerts, etc. I got synth on the brain.

Gotta remember, I'm from an era back when synth was shitty too. Back when we didn't have the high fi soundbanks like we do now. I had forgotten what in balls an oboe even was. I do remember the one girl that had it in band though. Her name was Shaun or Shawn or Sean and they made her play bass drum in the marching band instead. Kinda fucked up, but she was a trooper for volunteering.

I also remember we bonded over liking the X-Files and apparently the Fandom called theirselves X-Files back then. I'm guessing xphile. Back then I was aware enough to know it might be spelled that way. I was kinda a jock/nerd mix breed back then.

I started with Trombone as a hand-me-down. Then I went to military school and got into the drum core. Then when I got kicked out of military school I started piano. I stole a couple flutes for my friend and me. I remember wanting to be able to use a wood flute like Link and charm the forest creatures. I wanted to be Peter Pan as a kid too. That was too signs I didn't listen to. My mind was telling me who I was.

I probably should've focused on that. Nothing is cooler than jamming on a wood flute. This guy I found doing a live on tiktok. He does pan flute too.

One piece of advice I'd give someone growing up, is always go with what you wanna do in your spirit. If you hear something that connects with you on a mystical level. Go after it. Don't go after the practical. You can't change what the innermost part of your mind connects with. I never could and fought it my entire life.

I used to think Dead Poet's Society was childish and wrong. After thinking it was enlightening as a kid. It was never wrong. You just gotta fight for it. And never stop. Life is too long to settle for something you never wanted.
