It has:

• A story told in the time of the Bakumatsu, starring Yakuza series "faces" playing historical figures. For example, Ryoma Sakamoto is "played" by "Kiryu" (and his VA). There's also Majima, Saejima, Akiyama, Nishikiyama, Ryuji Goda, Haruka, and several others.
• The combat is the same beat-em-up style of Yakuza games only you're swinging swords around. The combat is understandably BRUTAL stuff using a bunch of different weapons and styles. There's even a "Wild Dance" style where Sakamoto is wielding a katana and revolver at the same time.
• So many minigames including farming, chicken racing, traditional Japanese fan dancing, and even karaoke!
• A naked bathhouse fight between two sweaty men.

Sounds great! Itll be its own continuity so none of the previous games are required to enjoy this.

It's an upscale remaster of Ishin from 2014.

OH FUCK YES. YES. YES!! Been hoping for this game to be localized ever since I got really into this series. And I am SO FUCKING HYPE FOR THIS!

Now they just need to remaster Dead Souls, I would actually play that just for a chance to play as Majima again.

I gotta be honest, this part sounds ridiculous to me. Who knows, maybe it will be cool, but to me it sounds like one of the weird throwaway episodes of an old sitcom

Wee my PS4 resumes the love. Still got Lost Judgment after I finish the first one then I need to wrap up Y7 and hopefully by then this will be out and I can be happy

i hope they bring Kenzan over too. I heard Ishin has better combat, but Kenzan is an overall better game

Just when I keep getting out, they keep pulling me back in!

I've been begging Sega to localize this and Kenzan for years by filling out their surveys. I'll be buying this for sure, and maybe one day we'll get a Kenzan remaster or remake.

Yeah I was. I should had clarified by saying certain detective lawyer.

It's smart that they realize everyone is burnt out on regular Yakuza games and are switching up the style. After 4 it honestly felt more like a chore to play them and it shouldn't feel that way

I'd recommend wrapping up Y7 before you play Lost Judgment. They aren't directly connected, but Lost Judgment does reference some things that happened in Y7.

Not just reference. Lost Judgment is the aftermath of something from Y7.

I may get it since I love ancient Japanese shit, but this is probably my least favorite time period for it

Not to mention I find Yakuza combat to be too stiff and there's an awful lot of reading

Absolutely. It's a completely isolated story. It's a period piece that's straight up historical fantasy. Just got some familiar faces filling in the roles of actual historical figures.

Also funny thing is that in Japan this game actually came out just before Yakuza 0, so there's a lot of design overlap.

Largely, yes. It's basically the result of a constant iterative process of their combat engine.

Yeah I don't even own Lost Judgment yet. I guess I should say, I'm 50 hours into Y7 so I will more than likely wrap that up after Judgment!
