This is why God forgives all of your mistakes and sins, because he is not controlling your actions.

He loves you so much that he gave you freedom to praise him or commit sin.

God loves you so much that he will forgive you even if you use your free will to sin.

No matter how many times you sin, God will never stop loving you.

This relationship with God is unlike anything you will have with a person. Nobody will stay with you if you abuse them, disrespect them, dont treat them how theyd like to be treated, etc.

You can disrespect God (free will) and even that will never break his love for you. He is your eternal Father.

He is your creator and your Lord.

This does not compromise his powers at all.

Many different outcomes are possible based upon the choices you make; God knows the results for each possible scenario that you may choose.

He is an infinitely loving and merciful Lord.

He created you and everything that exists.

Not only did He create you, but He created you in the image of Himself.

Think about how powerful that is.

God made you to be a representation of who HE is.

You are his child.

He has always loved you and nothing could ever break that bond he has for you.

I don't believe it, TC, the God you refer to could be a bunch of alien scientists who made us and everything on earth and are just observing us how their creation is unfolding for scientific experience.

I don't believe in God. You know what my parents told me recently after my son with a congenital heart disease was born and had to get open heart surgery at 10 days?

They told me that God gave my son that disease as his way of revealing himself to me, because he can communicate without words, and that I will learn to believe in him now

If you've never seen it, there's an episode of Scrubs called 'My No Good Reason' (S6 ep14) that touches on this topic pretty well imo; you might even find it cathartic, since the backdrop sub-plot is that Dr. Cox's wife is recovering from pre-natal surgery (in a previous ep Dr. Cox even questions what kind of chance at life his soon-to-be daughter will have if she's needing surgery before she's even born), which plays into the moral of the episode.

The moral of that particular episode is that, unless they're completely air-headed and self-absorbed, even the most devout Christians struggle deeply with the whole 'everything happens for a reason' viewpoint, and they're trying to convince themselves of it as much as they're trying to convince you; if you're willing to read between the lines and arguably smug self-assurance, they're just trying to tell you to keep your heart open for silver linings in shitty, senseless situations.

The way that death relates to God:

Our bodies are temporary, but our souls are eternal.

Someone who has a short life on Earth has a permanent place in Heaven.
