From what I've read, people are expecting about a 30% performance uplift over the 3090 Ti. Not exactly groundbreaking.

I miss the old school giant rectangular boxes that we used to get.

Sometimes, simple is better.

Between using a PCIe 4.0 Riser card to move your Video Card mounting position around, I honestly wish the MoBo manufacturers would move the PCIe x16 slot to the bottom of the MoBo and call it done.

This way, it doesn't block any of your expansion card slots and you can just buy a Case that is one size up to have enough extra slots just for your GPU.

We aren't in the age of Multi-GPU's anymore, so might as well shove the slot to the bottom and have better use of your case.

This way, the heat zones for your CPU, GPU would be farther apart as well.

Maybe a bit off topic but I'm about to build a gaming PC, does it make sense to wait for the 4000 series cards instead of going ahead and getting a 3000 series one?

Depends on your wallet. the 3000 series was over produced and sold straight to crypto miners and now a flood of used ones along with unsold new stock is hitting the market for cheap.

They look sleeker, but I really don't like blower style coolers.

Newer will almost always be better, but a generation or two behind - especially the higher end models - will still hold up for a long time. And likely be cheaper, especially once the newer gen is out.

Maybe 6060's will have 4090Ti performance for a a quarter of the power.

You also run the risk of stagnation with the first generation of new architecture. Look at what happened with 20 series over 10 series. We didn't truly get the performance we were expecting until 30 series. We might see the same thing with 40 series.

Back in the day if you had money you could spend $1000-$1200 on two GPU's and they took up 4 to 5 slots in your case and consumed 500W+. I guess NVIDIA just said fuck it, let's do all of that with one card.
