I remember getting home from school and seeing it in the TV just as the towers came down.

I was in the 8th Grade, and they told us in the gym after lunch.

Funnily enough, even though a lot of parents were coming in to take their kids home, my mom did for us as well, but only because we just happened to have a dentist appointment that day. On the way there, we took note how there wasn't a single plane in the sky.

2nd grade. I was in a Montessori school and they only told the older kids so my sister and I had no idea. I do remember a lot of kids coming home early that day but I thought nothing of it. My mom picked me up after school and started going off about it and I had no idea wtf she was talking about at all.

9th grade. One teacher was watching the news in the library and I go over there as well. Then second plane hits and towers fell. Very surreal looking back and wonder how I wouldve reacted as an adult. I was way too chill.

10th grade. I was coincidentally in US History watching a film. The vice principal knocked on the door, and the teacher thought he was just saying hi. He knocked again and waved back at him, and he just shook his head and walked away.

Nobody knew what he was trying to tell us until I got to 2nd period after the 2nd plane hit

I was at home, enjoying that I had just graduated high school and therefore for the first time didn't have to care that summer vacation had just ended, and I turned on the TV expecting to watch Family Feud but instead saw planes crashing into the twin towers.

Was getting ready for school and my mom came into the kitchen crying, I asked her what was wrong and she said we were going to war

Still had to go to school that day and I remember watching the sky because there were no planes at all which was just eerie. On the way we heard on the radio that the pentagon was bombed so there was a brief period where it seemed like someone might be attacking the entire nation

at school they didnt have us do anything except watch news footage, for several days actually thats all we did at school

i was in sixth grade and we had the book fair that week. i'd forgotten my money on the day my class went so my english teacher let me and my friend go pick up the stuff we wanted while they were having an off period. we were the only students there and the adults running the fair were watching things unfold on the tv.

i live in alabama and i remember it was my 2nd period so right around 9am central. maybe a while before? i don't remember the exact structure of my schedule back then aside from homeroom -> science -> english. i don't think either of the towers had collapsed yet but the planes hitting were too early.

anyway, my friend and i only heard snippets from the news and didn't really understand what was going on, they had mentioned something about "bomb" (referring to 1993 but we didn't know) so that's what we told our teacher when we returned to class. she was like, flabbergasted and confused and didn't believe us and i still remember the look on her face. i think the news made its way around the school during that period or the next but otherwise i don't remember much about the rest of the school day, just the going home and watching the news with my parents for hours. teachers may have talked about it in some of the classes but i don't remember any of them turning on the tv and letting us watch or anything like that

why was your mum crying over going to war? The US has pretty much been at war for the last 60 years.

In college. I was sleeping when the first plane hit, a buddy woke me up pounding on the door saying that we're going to war. Called my Pops to see if his brother was alright, cause I couldn't remember how close he worked to the Towers.

I was in high school. Someone came back to class after going to the bathroom and said planes were flying into buildings in the U.S. But the dude was a class clown type and always bullshitting and doing stupid shit to get attention. So I didn't put much weight in anything he said.

But after class ended I went out to the smoking area and everyone else was talking about it.

I didn't go to school that day. I forget exactly why, but it may have had to do with it? I remember watching TV when it suddenly came up on the news and my family had to explain it to me as an 8 year old.

I woke up, and I had NPR on and they were saying a plane hit the World Trade Center, and I figured it was a small jet, so I got up and turned on a TV, and it was apparent that it was no Cessna.

I was in class. All the teachers were apprehensive. I had no clue what the Twin Towers even were at the time, so I thought they were talking about some minor, local monument or something. I don't think we had an accessible TV, so I didn't really get the scope of what happened until they canceled school and sent us home.
