i saw a video on facebook of a mother pitbull snapping and barking at one of her puppies, and everyone's like awww so funny so cute, she's teaching him respect LOL!!!

yeah real fucking cute, it's squaring up against its own offspring. and those adorable backyard inbred puppies are gonna be dumped off into houses with little kids, or other pets, or they're gonna be chained up outside 24/7, they're gonna snap, and everyone's gonna wonder why and how, even though they've been ticking down since birth

For those to have meaning, you'd need very in-depth studies breaking down the owners of pitbulls as well. There's no doubt they're more aggressive than the average dog, but you can probably place a majority of attacks on horrible owners who buy them because of that reputation. We're probably still talking about less than 1% of the dog population actually doing the attacking.

It would be the fact that they're inherently more aggressive combined with a higher frequency than normal of bad reasons for ownership. Again, we're talking about probably sub-1% of the pitbull population. Consideration is warranted, but calls for their banning are hyperbolic.

We've had 3 dog bites requiring medical treatment and stitches at my apartment complex in the last year.

Guess the breed?

So many people in this thread are so happy to blame the owners over and over and over again, as if that negates the injuries and loss of life and the danger. You'll gladly say that pit bulls belonging to bad owners are dangerous, but also fight restrictions against the breed. Guess what? Most pet owners are failures, and the stance that that's just okay and should never be infringed upon is despocable.

This is such a dumbass talking point and wrong. Pit Bulls make up way more than 6 percent of the dog population, they're probably the most common breed next to Labradors. It also skews the numbers when four different breeds are lumped into one group all called Pit Bulls (when the American Pit Bull Terrier is the only "real" one) and mixes that look even remotely like Pits are called Pits.

Sometimes when I am exercising, I see an older man with a cane walking a large dog, that I dont think is a pit, but is one that most people would assume is one. Anyways, sometimes the dog barks and lunges at me, and the man has to brace himself to hold the dog back. I really wish he would put a muzzle on it, like a woman in my neighborhood who has a similar large dog does.
Edit: the ironic thing is Ive never seen the womans dog act aggressively towards anyone.
