Instead they use fromsoft/sekiro parry system. I love MGR's parry system. It felt just more epic and offensive instead of just blocking on time, or secondary button for parry. I forgot about the older DMC games, but DMC 5 use the same parry system, when you attack at the same time as enemies, you parry instead. It's a less pronounced feature than MGR's, but still satisfying as fuck.

It was also the best game since the first one. Action hack and slash is a great direction for the series

I can see why using an attack-based parry might be useful, as it encourages more risk taking, while a block-based parry system might encourage more turtling/careful play.

On the other hand it seems like it would be easier to "accidentally" parry just by spamming attacks. So you get a less skill-based parry system but the tradeoff is more fast-paced and streamlined combat.

idk, it's been ages since I played Rising so I forget exactly how it worked and felt lol
