And while we're here, the oldest cat was 38

The Guinness Book of World Records tells us that the oldest cat ever was a Texan named who survived for 38 years and 3 days, succumbing to old age in 2005. Her human parent, Jake Perry, also cared for the previous world record holder, Grandpa Rex Allen, who died at the age of 34.

The oldest tarantula was 43.

The worlds oldest known spider has died after a record-breaking lifespan of 43 years, according to researchers in Australia. The spider, known as Number 16 to Australian scientists, was a female trapdoor tarantula living in Western Australias Central Wheatbelt region, Agence France-Press reports. The spider didnt die of old age, however, but was killed by a wasp sting, researchers said Monday.

If you really want to be amazed, look up the records for parrots.

For cockatiels - the tiny ones with the orange cheeks - the confirmed record is 36. For larger parrots, it's 89 (a moluccan cockatoo, iirc). Unconfirmed but plausible claims exist of over 100.
