Fun fact, that guy never set foot in Alaska his entire life. Nevertheless, America named a local mountain after him. Mount McKinley. It was known by natives as Denali but didn't get changed back officially til the Obama administration. My republican dad STILL calls it McKinley and I always tell him he is wrong

How many conversations happen about a mountain in Alaska between you two?

Shoot i always forget its Denali. When you've been raised all your grade school years its a certain thing and it changes after you went to school. Its hard. Don't even know when it got changed.

Only reason i know it was changed is because i'd hear it a couple if times whenever i watch Jeopardy. I actually said Mt. McKinley yesterday for a clue and got it wrong... but thinking about it i think the answer they said instead was Denali...

We don't talk about it every day but more often than you might think. Me and my family moved to Alaska 5 years ago but we have had a connection to the state for a long time

We lived here in the 80s. And my brother has been living her for like 20 years. So we would visit. The natives always said Denali even when the name was changed

Part of it is that they named it after a man who never came here. I'd still say Denali is the true name but it wouldn't bug me as much, had they picked someone with a connection to the state
