i walked in my room where my phone was and it was being audible about a weather warning. never happened before. just not sure if that is normal. worried its some kind of malware which is unlikely, i did scans and everything afterwards to make sure.

Those used to be opt-in, nowadays such governmental warnings are automatic on newer phones.

oh so nothing to worry about? yeah i walked in and some lady was warning about weather while it was in sleep mode, which its raining pretty heavy. there was a notification for it, but it was definitely a first. it surprised me. anyway to block it?

No idea, you could try and Google it. I never considered blocking such official warnings.

Depends on the severity of the warning and the age of the phone; you can go into settings and turn off most alerts except for the most severe (Presidential level alert) but if your phone is old enough, you can turn off all alerts. Really old cell phones won't receive any alerts.

An old phone that can receive alerts but have the capability of turning them all off are few and far between as they are being intentionally bricked by their manufacturer.

you should notice that they are different from normal notifications.

I dunno if malware could or couldn't hijack that system (probably it could in some rare situation), but even if it did you would expect to get something much worse than a weather warning. a weather warning is probably the kind of thing you should expect to get. (not that I've gotten one yet.)
