There was an interview ages ago in which they kind of mentioned how they really couldn't move past the Atelier series because it was the only way that they could cut costs enough to come out with a game at all, and that by having games constantly coming out they could keep up their revenue stream enough that the lights could stay on. --- "A shouted order to do something of dubious morality with an unpredictable outcome? The people who buy the games will always buy the games and the number of people getting into the series is basically nonexistent. From block to block there are no real carry-overs, but between each one the story directly calls onto the last one.
