I do and I talk to myself. There was this guy named John who used to give me shit for it. Helps me to think outloud while ordering tasks in my head at work in the old days. Personally, I think lots of others are robot npc sims that don't understand anything outside their programming. Sucks to be them. It's also good for speech practice to physically mouth the words ans thoughts to attune them in your head and a mitigation against anxiety whether autonomic or not. --- Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process they do not become a monster. ... I used to have a partial photographic memory but I lost it around 10th grade. Remember this vocabulary books we used to have in school? I could see them while taking the tests. I just have to close my eyes and I'd see portions of it in my head. I'd kill to know how to cultivate that ability. I think I have a very small one. I dont really talk to myself or read in my own voice naturally, but sometimes I find it easier to remember something if I make myself ask myself? Like if I dont know where I left my keys, Ill make myself ask where did I last see my keys and then Ill answer myself maybe in the kitchen? I used the bottle opener keychain a while ago. I dont know why thats better than just remembering outright, but ehh brains are weird. I really really suck at picturing things in my head though. I always thought people, teachers, media, etc. were just being flowery when they say that reading a book is like a movie playing in your head. But Ive spoken to people who thats like a real thing for? Like they can see the book playing out? That does not happen to me at all. I know what a red circle looks like but if I close my eyes and try to picture a red circle I just can't. At my old job we had a client like this, it was my first exposure to someone who couldnt visualize stuff. Really sweet lady, we had to make sure there were pictures for everything because if we tried to have her imagine something it just wasnt happening. But Ive spoken to people who thats like a real thing for? Like they can see the book playing out? That does not happen to me at all. I can visualize things as I am reading, yeah. As I've gotten older I've even kind of consciously made a point of trying to imagine the senses of a scene being described. But I also think I'm cobbling some of it together based on previous expectations. For example, reading Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? after having watched Blade Runner, I basically invented my visualization based on that. It's been so long since I've read it, so I don't remember if the scenery was quite as vivid as that, or if Blade Runner's visuals were invented to fit the general vibe of a dystopian future, but I do distinctly remember not having to work hard to jump to thinking of Blade Runner. This is iffy for me since Lord of the Rings, while I can imagine it based on the films, I also have a pretty vivid version of how the characters and scenery looks that differs greatly from them. It's pretty fun actually, because sometimes when reading a book that has a film adaptation my mind decides not to want to "cast" the characters the same way as there in the film, but sometimes I can't get away from associating an actor with a role. --- This issues still comes to mind now and then Cake was baking in the oven and mother was making tea for us ...
