...but then when you get there to grab your online order you still have to wait in the normal line behind the regular ordering people first...

What is the point even?

Because you'd have to wait even longer for them to make your food, probably.

hate when they don't start preparing it until you arrive, and they don't have an option to select "I've arrived".

chik fil a does, but del taco got rid of it.... I place my order ahead of time so it will be ready when I get there. what the fuck is the point of me placing the order just to wait in line while they make.it?

Had that at BK today, first time ordering using their app. Despite having an "I'm here" button in the app you apparently also have to verbally check in at the counter for them to start the order (which wasn't mentioned in the app). Total waste of time, really don't see the point. McDonalds & Odeons system of pressing the "I'm here" when I'm round the corner, them starting the order, & having the progress of my order number visable on a screen is way better.

I remember when McDonalds checked your GPS to make sure you were in the resteraunt before they'd start your order (can't remember if they still do that, system changed during covid), I would use an app to move my GPS marker to the store so it would be ready when I got there.

there's definitely no "im here" button, after you click confirm it just prompts you to tell them you have a mobile order

Physically waiting in a real line should just be something those putzes who still order their food like the internet doesn't exist have to do.

I used to order from a Chipotle near me. I sent in a couple internet orders during COVID and they seemed disorganized, but I kept giving them a free pass to get their act together.

Then came the time I ordered, then went to pick up my food 10 minutes after the promise time. I entered at the same time as a guy. He entered line (8ish people) and I watched him get his food and leave. I was waiting with 20ish people to the side. Another person entered at the same time as the first guy left. I watched him get HIS food and leave.

I walked up to the cashier/manager on duty and said "these people to the side had their food promised more than a half hour ago. You need to stop serving people walking up until you have made our food."

"I'm sorry, there's nothing I can do".

"Oh, but there is! You can tell that guy - him, right there - at the beginning of your assembly line to start making the burritos off of all of those slips - right there! - instead of taking new orders. I promise you won't get fired for serving your customers. Easy!"

"I'm sorry, sir, there's nothing I can do".

I made an exaggerated 'are you kidding me face' and, for I believe the only time in my life, told them that they had lost my future business (true). I got my burrito 10 minutes later. First world problem, certainly, but it would have been so damn easy to solve...

I think its just a bad chipotle The one where I live feels like the opposite. I sit and can watch them make like three online order bowls when I get to the front of the line. They are usually apologizing the whole time, too Its probably hard for them to find a good mix

Hard, yes. I used to think they were awesomebut theyve fallen on hard times. It was an Inexperienced manager without enough confidence to make an (obvious) decision that conflicted with policy, Im surebut I just dont need to order from there given those (continued) struggles.

as someone who used to deliver for door dash, I used to avoid that place because I hated waiting so long. Hundreds of other places had the food ready and waiting for me when I enter the store.

but not fuckin 5 guys! Lets sit and wait in a crowded cafeteria for another 10 mins!

I dont mind that they cook my food when I get there. I dont have to talk to someone. I know my order is put in the way I want, and I just play on my phone in the car. I liked McDonalds because theyd bring it to your car. Chipotle I just keep an eye on their self pickup stand until they put up an order on my shelf then I go in.

There a deli in a grocery store near me and if you order online they always slate you for a 40 min wait time, but they frequently miss the deadline and it takes all of 3 min to walk up and ask them for what you want. It's annoying, like yeah you can shop around while you wait but I thought the point of the online orders was to increase efficiency.
