Inscryption isn't quite as deep as StS and the card game isn't as heavily focused.

There is a mode called Kaycee's Mod (despite the name, it's official content) that turns it into a more straightforward deck building game. I've not played it, so I don't know how it compares to StS.

Inscryption is not StS.

Its more of a puzzle story driven game with deck building elements. The card battle is fun but dont go in expecting a tightly balanced game. Its explicitly cheap against you for reasons, but theres also ways you can break it in your favour too

Yeah, I forgot about this. The game wants you to finish whereas StS honestly doesn't seem to care if you do or don't. As such, there are multiple extremely broken cards and combos you can easily end up with.

But again, I imagine Kaycee's Mod removes that stuff.

I like it a lot, but like people are saying, it's quite different. Yes it has deck building and roguelite elements in it, but it's puzzle and a lot of narrative and stuff.

There is a mod to turn the first segment into a full-on game, which is pretty close to StS. You can get into that after beating the game if you want to (really should beat the game once for the plot).

Dawnbringer is a cool card game on Android. also Iris And The Giant. Meteorfall Journeys is another cool one. Slay the spire though is still at the top of my favorite card game.

And oh by the way I bought Gwent Rogue Mage when it came out like a month or two back. It's a single player version of Gwent. I never played the online multiplayer one. Only Gwent I played was in the witcher 3 game and it was cool. So I decided to give Rogue mage a go and it's been fun so far. Still trying to complete a second run as I only got one run complete so far and of course that's not the whole story when beating it just once

Game closest to being like Slay the Spire would probably be Monster Train.
MT is amazingly fun.

Though Inscryption is still one of my favorite deckbuilders O.A.T.

Isnt half the game about having an argument deck and recruiting people? Love Klei's games and I still need to play Griftlands but I was under the impression it was a different vein of Deckbuilder then STS.

I was comparing STS to MT because both have a similar RPG feel where its about coming up with the ludicrously powerful deck combos by progressing through the game, picking up cards, relics, earning money and buffing cards through events or through shop purchases.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/9/3/4/AAYm74AADoKW.jpg hey guys I downloaded Indies Lies. I even bought one of the dlc so far!! Which is only $3 so that's cheap for what it provides. On my Android phone by the way. I still haven't completed a run yet but I got close with couple characters. I'm in the process of trying to complete the 5 clues in each character to unlock their story mode. I haven't experienced any the stories yet but I'm excited to see them as many roguelike games , whether card or other Genre, lack any good story. Hades is still the number one rogue like in my opinion for best story and content

hey guys here screenshot again from Indies Lies. I think honestly I end up liking it more now than Slay The Spire. I mean I really enjoy slay the spire, but this game has better graphics, better artwork for cards and their attacks, and also better and more characters. 3 characters to start out but with the two dlc that's 6 more for a total of 9 characters. The dlc each is only $3 so even if you bought both then that's only 6 bucks, still cheaper than buying slay the spire. I just feel like indies lies has much more going for it. Like I said the artwork for cards are much better, the characters are more unique and colorful designed, and I enjoy the enemies even more than slay the spire. There's definitely a lot more enemy variety and boss variety in indies lies. Anyone else been playing it??

well like I said its free to play so you can try it yourself. Looking back on slay the spire well the enemies and bosses just keep repeating a lot. The diversity is decent enough, but compared to indies lies , slay the spire probably has only like half the amount of bosses and enemies as this game. Plus bosses are unique based on your hero selection . It's not always gonna be the same bosses no matter who you choose like in slay the spire. Plus the actual artwork design in slay the spire looks like a flash title now that I think about it. The characters in indies lies all have their own unique designs and very colorful to vibrant looks. And also indies lies has up to 9 characters. 3 to start and 6 in two paid dlc. Slay the spire only has 4. And also the team aspect is much more strategy than slay the spire.

Of course you don't need to pick any teammates if you don't want, when the choice comes up during a run after a boss defeat there is three characters to pick in that run, you can either pick one or none. Go solo as your hero, or try to build strategy as a team. Also there is positions with the three or two characters. Front, middle and back. Depending on which position you place them in certain cards could work better than others.

And you can switch their position anytime during a run. Also as I said there is a story mode for each character, you just need to complete a checklist to unlock. Which are 5 things. On two characters I only have 1 thing left and then I can open the story mode. I think it's cool if the developer has designed unique stories for each hero, and the game not only being the rogue like runs as in slay the spire

It's all window dressing in the sense that you are just using a different deck to accomplish the same stuff. Griftlands has a story and thus it is somewhat different, yes, but overall you are just getting the same-ish core experience but with a different visual flair. In some ways you can view it as a from of StS+ in that it's the same thing but with a bit more. While that "bit more" can potentially be a turn off (sometimes simplicity is better) it is merely a bonus onto the system. Really, unless you cheat for a ton of gold you really won't get too into the affinity chart stuffs too much in a real sense. It is far more for giving you unique "challenges" to overcome each run with the ability to choose whether to turn them off or improve your deck/character.

i might give that a look then. I loved Monster Train so much because I felt Slay the Spire only 1 or 2 deck types work per character in later Ascensions.

So thats a big plus in my book.

That was my experience. That and I also feel like by the time you beat the first boss if you don't have your deck synergy already set up you've probably already lost.

Indes' Lies is more forgiving with how much luck is involved in getting a synergy because lots of different cards have multiple wombo combos.
