I mean the anime, to be clear. I just got to the Long Island (I think?) arc. I've loved everything so far. I have played some of the games, like the Pirate Warriors series, so I'm very aware of some of the bigger plot point moments. That said, I'm still enjoying the anime.

I see people kinda diss the anime, though. Is there a point where it just gets too much filler? Is there anything in particular I should avoid? I realize I still have a LONG way to catch up, but I've been loving it so far.

You'll know when it gets too bad for you if it does

There's a lot of mediocre filler other than G8 which is pretty good, but the real obvious turning point is that the anime pacing starts to die when it goes widescreen, so it's hard to miss.

Now, that right in the middle of a fantastic arc and its still just fine there, but if I had to pick a point to switch to the manga it would be once that's all finished up, personally.

Most of it is lazy animation and padding that gets shit on. If you are binging it won't be too bad but there are points where the padding is really obvious and when it takes 7+minutes to get to the actual start of a 24 minute episode. Which makes it very frustrating for how little can actually happen in later episodes.

One Piece actually doesn't have much pure filler (at least compared to other similar anime of that time). Especially later its just recap or movie tie in arcs that are just a few episodes. I think you are already passed most of the pure filler arcs.

I watch 1-2 episodes a night right before bed, basically. Sometimes more if it's a weekend where I'm staying up later. So while I'm sorta "binging" it, I'm also not in that I'm pacing how many episodes I watch.

Yeah if you start skipping intros/recaps you may want to switch that to 3 episodes post timeskip lol

I think I'm also having fun seeing stuff the games don't cover. Like, I know the next arc has to do with Franky, for instance, but the games typically go from Skypeia straight to that, or even skip Skypeia completely, so it's kinda fun to see the stuff in between.

There are legitimately points when it's at it's worst where an episode will spend so long recapping the last episode that it struggles to reach 10 minutes of new content.

Yeah, if it starts getting heavily into recaps, I'll start skipping that, thanks for the warning.
