I'll preface this by saying this is by all means a very flawed game, but man it's way more fun than it was about 8 months ago

Adding voice acting really turned the game around and gave some life to something that ultimately felt unfished on release. But they also did some good work patching and making the game just altogether feel more fluid.

I've never really said this with a smash-clone but it seems like this one is actually more fun in 1v1 than FFA? Which is weird, because it's definitely advertised primarily for 4-player multiplayer but feels like it's designed around 1v1. It's very high-speed, which makes it difficult to follow the action with more people (which is frankly a problem literally every Smash clone falls into, because for whatever reason nobody else has figured it out (not for some reason, the reason is budget, because nobody ever wants to give budget to platform fighters despite Smash being probably the most profitable game Nintendo has).

Again, this isn't a great game. But it went from like a 4/10 to a solid 7/10, which is a wild improvement, and got me to play some more of a game I like completely wrote off (and even buy the DLC, because some of these character choices are really inspired, TMNT's 5 characters aside).

also MultiVersus is a fun and a lot more polished but it also has nothing for local play so this has become a fun fallback Smash alternative for groups of friends.
