What do you consider medium? Cost of living can vary greatly within the same state let alone different parts of the country.

There was a study published in 2018 saying about $75k is where money doesn't provide you anymore happiness because that's the range where money is no longer a stressor in your life. With inflation, it's closer to $87k so I would say anymore than that is doing well.

Can you give me 2k dollars and not miss it? I'd consider you well off. Me, I don't have 2k dollars.

I eat bread mostly. Sometimes moldy.

If you can comfortably afford basic necessities and to take an expensive vacation or buy expensive stuff without worrying about it or having to save up for it, I'd consider you well off.

Not going to assign a number to it, because cost of living varies.

in my city its probably around 80-90k per year. Really depends on lifestyle. thats why a lot of younger couples move to the deep suburbs or even surrounding communities. they forego the more active lifestyle in favour of a more homebody/quiet lifestyle that is affordable.

it baffles me how many people live downtown for the trendy factor, but never leave their house or really take advantage of the amenities. the local subreddit is full of them. Like, going for a walk to the library is their version of disneyland.

And different countries. The average annual income here is about $2179. A middling wage in the US is quite impressive here.

I'd say over 100k a year, depending on where abouts you live. Maybe more, but probably not too much less.

In the DC metro area, I'd say solo income of ~$130k-140k should be enough to take care of all of your necessary expenses, save a decent amount of money, and blow your leftover money on bullshit without having to worry about it

My friend from grad school moved to this area working remotely and making 140k and this gooby wants to go bar hopping every single weekend. God damn cocktails are $15 a pop.
