Ive always had breathing issues. Was hit in the nose as a kid by another kid swinging their lunch box around. It hurt like hell but I didnt bleed so just shrugged it off.

That hit to the nose actually deviated my septum badly. CT scan shows 3-4 mm deviation and very narrow airway passage on my right nostril. Which is where I struggle breathing from. It also more than likely broke my nose as there was evidence of bone over the cartilage. I have a big flat part on my nose.

Cost of surgery to fix both the look and function would be close to 20k fml

I might have a deviated septum. One of my nostrils is a lil bigger and I sometimes can only breath in one side.

I didn't know it cost 20k to fix that wtf. I will never get mine fixed not until I win lottery

Id imagine most insurers balk at paying for the surgery unless the condition is severe.

I want to do both cosmetic and functional which is why its more. Septoplasty alone is probably much less. But because my nose was broken it also is misshapen and I want to fix it. It will be a rhinoseptoplasty

Yes but this is out of network and they dont accept insurance. Im going to try and find someone who does but this seems to be common with the plastic surgeons in SoCal. I could potentially send the bill for reimbursement back to my provider and possibly get some money back for the functional/breathing portion of the surgery. The lady said she saw people get up to 8k back.

I think it's time to visit Canada and use Canadian Healthcare.

Years ago I had surgery to correct a deviated septum. To be honest, I'm not sure my breathing was all that different afterwards.

The surgeon might be your uncle. His speciality is also our kinds of noses lol

I want to do the cosmetic side as well and prefer to do one surgery for both instead of 2 individual surgeries. I would much rather see a SoCal plastic surgeon than a Canadian. The cost is worth it for the expertise. I know too many people who had to get multiple surgeries to fix botched nose jobs

For me I feel a constant pressure in my nostril that Ive had all my life. When I have headaches, I also feel pain there. It would be nice to feel normal.

Rhinoplasty would just fix the look outside but not the deviated septum. The surgery for a deviated septum would be a septoplasty. I want both done together so I only go under once and get my nose messed with once. So that would be a septorhinoplasty. The surgeon I met was double board certified and an ENT specialist. He seemed very knowledgeable.
