What cut of steak? What's the thickness? How are you going to cook serve it?

Personally, I wouldn't use any of that stuff ever, but that's just me. Also makes me rather unhelpful here. Sorry.

Yep. I also saut mushrooms to go with it. Don't even always need the garlic.

And, not for everyone, but encrusting some blue cheese on top of ribeye is awesome.

Dont use any of this shit. Literally all you need is salt and pepper. Make sure you let it cool to room temp before you cook it. Pat it dry too, itll give it a better sear.

you cooking in a cast iron? Dont grill. Cast iron and butter if you have it. Throw rosemary in.

let it rest after, too.

Actually.... how good of a quality of steak are you making?

If its a good quality steak,i just use the salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
But if its like a cheaper piece of meat, i can see wanting to add some flavor.

Get ready to take out the batteries of your smoke alarm and open all your windows though.
I actually like the crust you can get with a cast iron steak compared to a grilled steak more often than not.

yes. Most professional chefs use cast iron. A well seasoned cast iron is better than a grill for any type of steak.

That's why you gotta pan sear it either before or after depending on the steak and how you're gonna cook it.

Hmmm. I would probably do the salt, pepper, and garlic powder with the butter basting if using a pan for that. Then maybe use ore make a sauce on the side or something.

Doesn't matter how i do it, it always gets smokey lol. At least if you want to get that nice crust which i like.

I usually do the reverse sear method for thick quality steaks then sear it a minute or 2 on a piping hot pan.

Thanks everyone. I had two filet's so I did the salt/pepper/garlic on one and used that brown sugar seasoning on the other. both were great, I do prefer just the salt/pepper/garlic taste though. I made butter and garlic rice to go with it.

Do a dry brine. As in cover the steak on both sides with kosher salt and let it sit in the fridge for at least an hour uncovered. Then put some pepper on it and maybe garlic and onion powder before cooking. It'll get a nice crust on it.

For the best steak it's half seasoning and half prep. Butter salt, lawrys seasoning salt, and cracked pepper. 24 hours before cooking unwrap and season your steaks to dry out. The steak shouldn't sizzle when it hits the grill, it should crackle like dried timber.
