C

IMO office work or internships don't truly count as starting from the bottom to me. As someone who works in finance, it's crazy how lazy and pampered people are here in the office life.

I believe everyone should have to do harder work at least once or twice in their life. It teaches character, grit, hard work, and toughness. It also exposes people to co workers of other backgrounds unlike finance which is filled with affluent background, spoiled brats

Working a shitty job doesn't teach you anything

I can get behind this. Blue collar workers have people sitting behind desks telling them how to do their jobs while not knowing what's feasible or not all the time. "But the numbers say!" Well, the people that actually perform the task say otherwise.

it'd be nice but it frankly doesn't actually help you succeed most of the time

those pampered finance brats don't regret never having a shitty job. they were probably having a great time while you were eating shit in retail.

They still are spoiled, low class, little shits who cry and whine when they don't get what they want or when something doesn't go their way

They may have been living it up with a cushy job right away but they still didn't learn character, maturity, toughness, or grit.

These situations are where Karen's are born

Working at retail would go a long way in making people empathetic and understanding.

Retail during the holidays especially.

Happened to my brother's wife once. She worked in an office and loved the whole Black Friday thing, especially when it started the night before. That is until they made everybody in the office show up and work the floor on Thanksgiving day. Suddenly, it wasn't very cool to have to give up part of her holiday to sell office supplies and printers. It finally seemed to dawn on her that other people had been dealing with this shit for years, which she never paid attention to when she was a customer.

the whole point is that they see themselves as better than others and they benefit from the system. to them others are chattel. why would they give up such a deal?

No.

Granted I started at the bottom.

I say fake it till you make it. There's no special reward in life for working harder. If someone presents an opportunity or shortcut you think you can handle, I say take it.
