No, they aren't terribly built. I have one. My only real gripe is the sun visors being magnetic instead of clicking in, so when I flip it down, sometimes it detaches and goes in a weird direction.

Tesla is just one big grift all around.

Seems like they're just trying to make people settle on subscribing to the subscription service. Currently the subscription service is at $200 a month .

It's a really bad idea to buy this considering...it's just not a finished product yet. And in addition to that, full self driving is not tied to your Tesla account. It's tied to your car.

So if you buy a new Tesla, you have to pay again for FSD.

I own a Tesla Model S and FSD is not worth anywhere near $15,000.

I don't think changing the name would help anything. Changing the name wouldn't change how people use it.

I assume this is the ensure that every Tesla that would be cheap enough to count towards that new "inflation reduction act" electric car credit won't have self-driving mode, since the subsidy caps out at a maximum vehicle price.

I wonder how that would work if you were to get it after the fact. Like you buy the vehicle without the feature, then you get it after you get the tax credit.

most people can't use it, even if they paid for it.

You have to have a good driver rating for some algorithm in the car, before you can even use it.

Yeah, the safety score feature has pretty strict scoring.

• Forward collision warnings (possibly per 1000 miles)
• Hard braking
• Tailgating
• Hard turning

I think that's in order of most impactful to least impactful, but not sure about the order of the last two. Right now, you have to be super cautious in order to qualify even if you pay for the feature. At first they only gave it to people who got 100s. I got in once they opened it up to people with 99s. I stopped paying attention to the threshold after I got in, though, so I'm not sure what the required score is now. I remember reading that the average score is around 80.

What if I don't have their garbage "Tesla insurance"? I still can't use FSD unless my invisible safety score is high enough?

You don't need Tesla insurance to get FSD. The safety score feature is primarily used for Tesla insurance, but it's also used as a qualifier to get into the FSD beta. I have State Farm and I got into the FSD beta late last year.
