Actor Kevin Harts first plant-based fast-food restaurant will be up and running this Thursday in Westchester. Located at 8901 S. Sepulveda Boulevard, Hart House is less than a four-minute walk away from the LAX-adjacent location of In-N-Out-Burger, which is always impossibly busy. Last week, Hart broke the news in an exclusive interview with Eater LA that Hart House currently has two locations under construction, several signed leases, and is on target to open up to 10 Hart Houses over the next year.

Hart isnt the first celebrity or the last to open a restaurant in Los Angeles. But he might be the first to open a vegan fast-food restaurant.

We wanted a price that doesnt turn customers away, says Hart. It was extremely important to us from the beginning to make [affordability] a massive priority.

At Hart House, burgers are available, but so is a crispy chickn sandwich with mayo and pickles, which can also be dipped in chile oil to spice things up. There are also crispy chickn nuggets with dipping options like creamy ranch, barbecue, and buffalo sauces. Additionally, the menu offers salads, french fries, tots, iced teas and limeade, and a stunningly similar-to-the-real-thing item: a milk shake made from an oat-and-soy blend.

Los Angeles has exploded with plant-based fast food options over recent years with the growth of restaurants like Montys Good Burger, Plant Power Fast Food, Veggie Grill, and Mr. Charlies. Though Hart House is similar to Montys and Plant Power, the standout is the price. Hart House sandwiches and burgers are in the $5 to $7 price range.

Hart draws a parallel between his venture to his acting and comedy career. For me, its about getting the customers that arent necessarily your target or your demographic, says Hart. Youre trying to appeal to all. [Hart House] is plant-based, but its really good. How can we get everybody to say I want Hart House today. Thats something Ive been able to do in my career. Ive been able to travel the globe and do my job at a very high level by appealing to everyone. So for Hart House, I want [it] to match the world of me and what Ive done, and have that same global appeal as we grow and as we go.

Id try it. Im open to it. Are the burgers like $30 tho. I already feel kind of iffy about spending $10 on a burger.

hey, i dig it. it won't replace the normal burger for me, but if it's delicious i'll eat it.

I've yet to go to a vegan fast food place even tho I live near a bunch of them lol

I've always said I would never like fake meat but if you can find these fake chicken nuggets at a store you should try them. They are ridiculously good and I like them just as much if not more than real frozen nuggets.

I haven't had fake chicken that tasted remotely good, let alone like chicken.

Sure. Sounds like an interesting place to visit that might surprise us. Bonus if it's actually healthier.

Not sure I would bother making it a first choice, but the business could impress enough we would change our mind. It's society's collective responsibility to explore alternatives anyway for the sake of survival even while enjoying meat products. Experimenting with plant-based replacements can open up fail safes in case future conditions make meat production no longer feasible. People have to eat something. The more alternatives that are safe and satisfying to consume, the more secure our resources will be.

Props on Hart's entrepreneurial interest. Hollywood eats and spits out actors all the time. It's not a bad idea to explore other investments for additional success. Many pro athletes have been doing that for decades after losing their ability to compete on the field.

Hell I am like 99 percent sure the majority of my town in particular would flip the fuck out with a plant-based option on the menu even being a thing since to them it would be WOKE. *Like the cracker barrel outrage at plant-based sausage being a option, lol*
