Looking for a card game to play casually. Anything is fine, Runeterra I hear is well supported and I liked Arcane a lot and am fairly interested in League content that isn't League itself.

I will go or anything that isn't Hearthstone, though.

And I already have Inscryption preordred, so no need for that joke. I want to open packs!

I'd recommend Pocket Crystal League + (basically Pokemon Inscryption), free fanmade game but maybe only 10-15 hours

Haven't played Runeterra in years, but what I played was pretty fun. Also a good way to experience League lore without having to play League.

I liked Runeterra but after playing MTG it does kinda feel like a dumbed down version of Magic. I mean that's not necessarily a bad thing, depending on how much you want to pay attention when you're playing.

But there's also not really packs to open in the traditional sense. You get weekly reward boxes that are kinda like packs but you just buy individual cards in Runeterra, not packs.

I guess I should also ask which game can be enjoyed the most without engaging with microtransactions.

LoR is a pretty good, nicely polished card game. It just never really took off since it was largely aimed at fans of Hearthstone, and a) it's somewhat more difficult to grasp than HS, certainly as an onlooker (which is always where HS most excelled), and b) HS fans don't want to play anything other than HS anyway because they're already far too invested in HS both mentally and financially. The other target market would be existing LoL fans, and only so many of them are going to be willing to play a card game.

I liked Runeterra when I played it, though I haven't played it for a few months and don't know what the meta is like now. It's very generous as far as digital card game economies go though.

I don't really agree with the statement that it's dumbed down Magic either. The games feel somewhat different to me and if anything I would say that Runeterra is more difficult to master. Magic does have a lot more stuff going on though, and there's also a lot more things you can do if you're the type of person who just likes to build a ton of different cool decks.

i like shadowverse, it's kind of more of a hot mess in terms of power scaling than others which is a problem but it's definitely easier there than elsewhere to just dive in f2p and make a viable deck with whatever cards you want from what i remember (mostly thanks to the unreasonably long single player) and builds are often pretty unique. like i have a mech vampire deck from a year ago or so even though only about 1% of the vampire cards are mech-related so it's barely a functional niche and i've still gotten that to pop off a few times. is pretty fun i would suppose.
