if you dont know what this is before dic got the rights to dub the anime

their was a company who did a live action animation hybrid pitch

it was terrible so bad the guy they pitched it to broke out laughing on the spot

its good this was not picked up

but for decades sailor moon fans have wanted to see it hoping for soem so bad its good cheese

but no one could find it

until now

i recomend even checking out the documentry on how it was found just for the fascinating things their

enjoy

doesn't look that bad if we ignored that it's an adaptation of a popular anime. could've stand as it own series if better animated.

im glad it didnt happen as sailor moon would have never taken off properly in the west

that being said im glad this was found as a fan its a glorious thing to laugh at

and if you watch the documentry its clear the ppl did want to make something good they just did not have the money

and on a somber note a guy who was involved with the project and really hoped a copy could be found even had tried to find a copy for the fans

he passed away before this documentry was released (he was interviewed in it thoe)

They really zoned in on the sailor part with them riding sailboards.

Given that the point of a cartoon like that is to sell toys it doesn't really make sense to me to bring over an unknown ip and altering it to the point you wouldn't be able to sell the pre-existing merchandise.

power rangers did not sell the sentai toys it made fresh versions even thoe they where effectively the same

the real reason this is dumb is iconogrify as power rangers and sentai still use the same designs

it dont matter if its power rangers or sentai fans are connected threw the morphed forms

and back to sailor moon and looking at the dic dub

it did not matter if you called her serena or usagi you still loved sailor moon and could recognize her on sight

granted the dic dub butchered the story so....

i was always vaguely aware that part of the pitched show had a girl in a wheelchair but i dont think i ever knew that her chair transformed into a golden throne with laser beams that she flew around like professor x. holy shit lol

Yeah but in that case they could at least save money by using Sentai footage instead of reshooting the entire show from scratch.
