Current Events > Which OG Gen 1 Pokemon game should I play? Red or Blue

I am not considering FRLG or Let's Go or Yellow. This is specifically about Red or Blue.

Which one?

I'm hoping to do the Mew glitch on 3DS and transfer it to Pokemon bank. Will eventually catch a Celebi in GSC and transfer to Bank up to Home

I didn't, it literally makes no difference unless you want to use arcanine or ninetails

I think Blue is the better version. Cheaper Porygon, Ninetales > Arcanine in gen 1, Persian is pretty good once you get Slash.

I usually make my decision based on the Growlithe/Arcanine line tbh. But giving the opportunity here to maybe try something different if CE sees fit

Red is cooler, Blue is stronger.

Won't work. Unless the Mew has a very specific original trainer name/ID that exactly matches a very specific event distribution for Mew (and good luck doing that without save editing) the games will know it's not a legit Mew and won't let you bank it.

lol, I think my genned mews and shiny legendaries are all on ultra sun still I cant remember what I passed through to sword now.

Yellow. It ACTUALLY is a different game and was honestly really loved by me. Jessie and James are even a part of it.

I prefer Blue version because Nidoran is a lot easier to find, and i like Nidoqueen a bit more than King (Nidoqueen learns Body Slam by level up). That, and i like Vulpix and Sandshrew more than their red counterparts. Also Porygon is noticeably less spendy to get in Blue.

RB has aged like crap. At least play remakes instead

Ok y'all I started a Pokemon blue game a few days ago

I've got four badges so far

I picked Charmander, currently a Charmeleon

the rest of my party is a Gyarados, Butterfree, Nidorina, Sandslash, and Pikachu

I chose the Helix Fossil and Hitmonlee so far

Very nice! If you get the chance, evolving Nidorina at or below level 23 with a moon stone will let Nidoqueen learn body slam via level up without needing to use TM08. Unfortunately, neither Sandslash nor Nidoqueen learn any ground type moves, so be careful with your TM usage! IIRC, Sandslash can learn both dig and earthquake, but Queen can only learn EQ. Strangely enough, Charizard can't learn fly, unless you trade it to yellow version or a gen 2 game and teach it fly there... Red/Blue are weird.

Red has Primeape, Arcanine and Scyther. No brainer. Red all the way!

Damn I may have missed out on the Nidorina thing, but will check once I boot my game back up
