Then they got a new pastor that's entirely money driven. Not to help people, the church, or the community like the previous pastor, but for him and his family. He's not even subtle about it. His wife and kids are totally obnoxious over it. They tried their best to run off every less fortunate member and keep only the wealthy ones to leech from. However, it's a small community and they couldn't run them all out without risking also losing the wealthier people... So they very begrudgingly accepted that they have to deal with financially struggling people. They treat them as second class people though, not even acknowledging them unless they need a servant. It was total night and day between this current one and the previous pastor. The current one absolutely would do something like the guy in the op did. As soon as I saw how disgusting these people were I left, which sucks because I was a member of that church for like 20 years.
