Is this a fair thing to do? I notice it a lot with Ezra Miller for example, who goes by they/them, but people (his critics) continue to use he/him even after corrected.

Should you always respect the pronoun, even if you hate the person?

Yes, no matter how awful they are you need to use the correct pronouns when referring to them.

Yes. Not respecting the pronoun is a jab at anyone in the non-binary crowd, not just the individual you don't like.

It's fair. "Respect" is a strong word, and shouldn't be used for someone like Ezra Miller at all

with Ezra specifically I figured it was just people not being aware or confused or something. They are literally The Flash so you expect a cishet white dude I guess.

is there any reason why one shouldn't respect them?

or is this more a case: "and i don't respect him cause he uses strange pronouns" and it just goes in a causal loop?

My only issue is why the pronoun of choice became them. Them is a plural, such as John, Jack and Jane.

my brain still hurts when I read headlines like Ezra Miller apologizes for them behavior, it just sounds like bad English.

why not choose a new pronoun? Like his, her, and hor or him, her and hos.

People tried new pronouns and guess who got even more ridiculous about them than 'they/them"

'They' can also be singular. It was used as such in the past, and it remains so today.

Because that is bad English. It would be "their behavior".

I understand how they/them can be confusing at times, but the "singular they/them" has been a thing for centuries.

I mean, isnt it the same as name calling at that point? What's the difference between calling someone "Fuck wit" and using the wrong pronouns?

Honest question. Seems to fall in the same ballpark imo.

Refusing to respect some one's pronouns just because they're a bad person signals to other trans people who aren't trash that your acceptance of them is conditional.

Growing up in the south of USA, it was drilled in our heads as kids that "they/them/their"is plural and a kid would be corrected anytime they used "they/them/their" to refer to a single person, so that's why it initially felt so awkward for me at first. I must have been 2nd or 3rd grade in the late 90s. I still think about it in the back of my head every time I use they/them, but I prefer to use a person's chosen pronoun either way.
