Love sucks sometimes, like when the woman you were dating insists on something that completely undermines her in your eyes. I struggled the entire weekend to forgive her for her transgression, but I couldn't. I told her we need time apart earlier today, and that's when I was finally able to cry. Work was rough, but I kept it together. I cried some more walking to my car.

In any case, I hope your love life is doing better than mine is right now. I don't know if "time apart" means a month, a year, or forever, but I know I just can't right now... #BlogFAQs

Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. It really sounded like you cared about her whenever you talked about her. Hope you guys can work it out.

She minimized my trauma. Insistently and repeatedly. I was in a rush at the time though: it wasn't until later, that I really reflected on the interaction and realized it shook my very understanding of her to its core. Even though she apologized profusely.

This was my first relationship. It lasted about 7 1/2 months.

Im sorry to hear that. Love can be hard, just dont let yourself become disillusioned.

Yeah, you dodged a massive bullet there. That sort of thing is a huge red flag, since it means theyre lacking in a great deal of empathy.

In your shoes, after experiencing that in a relationship, Id walk away. Im not you though, and you should totally do what is best and right for you.

She's basically never been so aggro or wrong though: this was an isolated incident but a horrible one. She was otherwise consistently kind and supportive. It feels wrong to define someone by her worst moment, and yet....trying to forgive her just annihilated my whole weekend.

I really hope things get better for you, no matter what path your future takes. I think it isn't impossible to reconcile if both parties are willing to work towards it, but it's ok if you decide that you can't move forward given how she acted, don't feel guilty because it didn't work out or something stopped you two from being compatible. I act out a lot because of my personality disorder which is definitely not something a lot of people would be willing to put up with, but I'm very lucky to be with a man who has seemingly infinite patience and support, and we compliment each other well and work through it together. I hope you find someone who you feel is truly suitable for you

Thank you. I'm in month 14 of HRT, I'm taking a Masters-level Social Work class, and getting my name changed. So things are getting better all the time.

Regardless of what happens, part of me will always love this woman though.

With so many changes its natural to put them at the top of your list along with those changes

But those changes are special because you are taking the initiative to fulfill your life in a meaningful way - you assign the meaning and theres no problem or bad thing in putting them as an experience where you were happy living and tried and learned more about yourself and what you want

It sounds like you did that though so you should really feel proud of yourself
