Dude. Are you serious? I mean that in a positive way. Yes play 4Answer (not just regular 4) but there's a game called Armored Core 4: For Answer, and I think you will love it. Play it today!

2nd best mech game I've ever played. And that's only because ZoE2 fulfills other goals (anime cutscenes, cell shading, etc) but AC4A is The Best mech game I've ever played as far as the classic MechWarrior formula goes, and customization. I mean, these devs practically invented the genre. You should check it out. It's very much in the spirit of Kojima too, so it might honestly be deserving of #1

Iirc Miyazaki stated that they were working on a mech game, and recently announced that a new game was nearly ready for reveal. It's entirely possible that they're going to announce a spiritual successor or sequel to Armored Core, Frame Gride, Another Century's Episode, Chromehounds, or Metal Wolf Chaos. Since ZoE is dead basically, I'd be happy if they picked up that formula. The odds Kojima was gonna repeat ZoE2 instead of going back to 1 or just going a new direction again for 3 (which the canceled concept art suggests was the case) was slim to none clearly. If they wanna break into more cinematic games, baby

I remember rage-quitting ZoE2 because I didn't realize that you needed to manual save, so I lost 1 hour+ of progress after a boss pushed my shit in.
I should go back and finish that at some point.

But yes AC4A is famous for its bosses. Famous. Bosses, in a mech game. Outlandish

Armored Core 6 got leaked, it's coming either next year or 2024.

It's the 25th anniversary this year, I'd expect it to be revealed this year at least.

Oh man I really hope it's coming. I used to play the hell out of For Answer. Even got my friends into it. They'd come over and create their own AC's and then we'd have head to head battles (too bad there was no co-op). V and Verdict day weren't bad either.

Chromehounds... The closest you can get to that now would be a modded Mechwarrior 5:Mercenaries. The gameplay loop there is really shallow though.

White Glint has one of the coolest head designs I've ever seen on a mech like that. I think I read somewhere it was inspired somewhat by Gundam Unicorn and Robotech, but has elements of Zone of the Enders, I think, and fuses the concept of a Gundam style robot with a more realistic mech (like Metal Gear Rex or Ray). Some of it has definitely been done before, but it has an identity of its own and is a natural extension of Armored Core's design principals and I think a few rather unique combinations of traits.

Three things.
- the head is itself shaped like a tank and clearly resistant to damage
- it sinks into the body to seal itself in the armor, negating a humanoid mech's main weakness
- with the head sunken, White Glint uses a variety of rocket boosters to go super speed. Hence the aerodynamic design.

Don't you unlock all the boosters and parts in an extra mission? I seem to recall something was missing tho, so you might not be able to recreate White Glint perfectly, or use all the parts. I'd have to check.

It was a joke about some things not being worth it. The tiny lil head balancer is what you get for S ranking everything on hard iirc, which means all those tedious end game engagements
