It felt to me like they abandoned a lot of the science fiction stuff in favor of a lot of horror tropes that just arent as interesting imo

the upside down went from this dark desolate alien place to literally having a haunted house and bats flying around everywhere and the whole thing about Vecna being behind everything makes it less interesting to me because hes just some disturbed kid with mental powers

and the whole ritualistic thing surrounding the clocks and four murders needed to open the gate didnt make any sense at all

and then Matthew Modine is finally back but not for any real reason and they dont even bother to explain how he got away from the demogorgon that attacked him when it killed everyone else it attacked

it really felt to me like one of the later seasons of game of thrones

and Hopper being alive was obvious but him being in Russia just seemed like a way to have the adults be out of the picture from what the kids were doing but still give them something to do, but very little of it was interesting and it didnt feel very impactful or have much payoff

I've been disappointed since season 2. I really thought this show was going to take the approach of having a new paranormal threat each season. I mean, the show is called Stranger Things after all. I'm just bored of this whole upside world and these flower-faced monsters.

I half agree, I really wanted them to do more stuff with the Upside down in general, it feels like it barely exists and only has a minimal presence, it might aswell not exist. I thought it was cool as like a Silent Hill-esque alternate world, but it's just boring and kind of unexplained in any way that I remember. Why are the buildings and such the exact same?

Until this last season I thought it was basically a lower entropy dimension below our own

now it seems like the mind flayer and demogorgons arent even from it though and are just aliens from some other dimension
