So get a different therapist or look at how you're approaching the therapy. Could be issues with both.

I think it's easier to just give up on talking about my actual issues.

Or maybe...therapy doesn't work for everyone. Statistics show that it helps the majority of people, but statistics obviously contain outliers as well.

All therapy is is paying someone to help you introspect or cope. You can do all of that without one, at least in theory.

Guess it depends on what you get on games vs therapy with someone

I've been debating going to therapy for a while. I think my issue would be if the therapist is asking me why I feel the way I feel then I don't have a good answer. I honestly don't know why I feel that way and that's why I would be going to therapy in the first place.

Sometimes there isn't a reason why, and so you really just need to learn good coping mechanisms.

The skills you gain from therapy are often far more important than understanding *why* something is the way it is.

In my experience, this isn't how therapy works. It's more like they ask you a bunch of general questions about your mental health, and if needed, you can elaborate on them. They don't expect you to know the answer to that stuff because that isn't their job; it's to help you find adequate ways to deal with your problems. You still have to put in the work, though.

It is a lot more than talking/introspection.

Its helping you find any potential causes, learning how to handle it all, ways to notice you are spiralling etc. Teaching you healthy habits and behaviours to promote good mental health.

It all varies though depending on the cause of your issues, but for many having another is much more helpful than staying in your own negative headspace.

That makes more sense. Thank you, and Faulty for your responses.

Looks like there's some overlap there, but yeah. Fair enough.

Bro I've been to so many therapists, and I honestly think it's doing more damage. I don't even think I can afford more expensive ones, if they're even free at all. The ones I can get appointments with just say the same shit regurgitated from textbooks and don't even care to dig properly.

The cons of seeing too many therapists is that you start to realize their patterns and how little thought they're personally putting into it. I know it makes the job easier, but I'm clearly not getting any better.

My first guy was the worst of them all though. He didn't go by textbooks, just kinda projected himself on me I think. It was pretty clear at one point, and he did the most damage by far. Was also like a religious nut, and he didn't know how to make ppl feel better outside of converting them to religion. It's Catholic shit too, which is literal horse garbage religion to boot
