Some people are just annoying and making their posts disappear only enhances your user experience.

Never bothered with that, though I do have some accounts on ignore. Looking over the list now half of the accounts on it were banned in the last 6 months or so...

Blocking is too many steps I just hit ignore

It's the most useful feature ever added to the site

I've never used it on GameFAQs. But I have used it in my personal life with abusive people

The very mentality (that using block is bad) is born of overt insecurity.

curating ones feed is not a "sign of weakness". what kinda weirdass flex is it to say you subject yourself to the drivel of morons? what kinda weirdass flex is it to say you leave yourself open to doxxing and off-site harassment by users who are clearly gunning for that kinda stuff? Ignore and Block with impunity. Live your best life.

I don't use it myself because I don't want to sift through topics with glaring omissions that de-contextualize other posts. Sometimes it eats entire topics, one topic goes right out the window in favor of who posted? followed by a discussion about that person.

The in-person equivalent is either running away or doing the la la la I'm not listening I can't hear you thing so it just comes off as a strange, unnatural thing to do. If the site was an absolute disaster filled with things I didn't want to see, I think I'd rather have a think about whether I want to keep showing up than bend over backwards furiously trying to curate it and endlessly swatting the alts of the same few spammers.
I don't come here with high expectations, I just like skimming for the odd interesting topic or a topic about a game series that used to be good.

D. It can also be used for getting entertainment from the butthurt popcorn that arises, usually coming from the people who claim they enjoy butthurt popcorn themselves. They're taken off after a week.

D, not at all. Some users are just insufferable. That being said, I don't use the feature. I'd rather see everything.

Hope they have insurance for the mental help they clearly need. Sure, there are a lot of shitty people here, but if you're blocking literally that many people, you're the issue.

You're free to use it or not as you please, but the people who outright don't want people using the feature are the reason said feature exists 9/10

Same with the tag feature. People who give others shit for using it are typically the people who don't want their past actions remembered. Hard to troll when half the board has a reminder as to who you are.

All that being said, using the block feature purely to avoid getting in trouble is absolutely a sign of weakness. Nothing wrong with using it to get rid of someone who consistently demonstrates they're just trying to cause trouble.
