On the topic of Krogan though I actually preferred the basic Soldier over the Warlard. The Krogan Soldier was one of the characters that could move at full speed with that giant Geth minigun, and it didn't hurt that double tapping the Inferno Grenades could just MELT spawns. I actually had players rage quit in a match because they were mad that I melted spawns, even though I'd only do it once or twice per wave.
