Does Epic actually think this is going to make them money? Hell, the longer they keep doing this, the less likely I am to buy anything because I HAVE SO MANY FREE GAMES I CAN'T EVEN PLAY THEM ALL.

The EGS is actually a money pit, it hasn't turned a profit and probably won't. Publishers don't put their games there expecting to actually sell a great deal of copies, they take Timmy's moneyhat then double dip on Steam for the actual sales.

Ah I wouldn't go for any of those. If I didn't have Super Meat Boy already I might say that one but they put it on Steam for under a dollar every other week already anyway. I guess The Messenger looked kinda cool from the little I've seen.

yup. ive been getting all their free games whenever i hear about them.

Yeah but Steam is basically an objectively better infrastructure. The EGS is such a clunky turd of a service and it has zero community features. It's somehow worse than 2006 Steam.

If they had somehow managed to craft a compelling system since launch, I might have reconsidered. But it's exactly the same as launch - slow, clunky, and bizarrely buggy.

Yep, I've never bought anything from Epic, I just nab all their free stuff. Most of it I'll probably never even want to play, but can't exactly complain about free.

The irony is that if EGS had similar community / achievement / etc features as Steam, all these free games would've made a compelling argument to switch over since you'd have a huge library of games with other people. So it's like they've spent all this money to create a community and then didn't actually develop any community features.

only a small percentage of the games in my EGS library are bought. and its thanks to those discount coupons they be dishing out. lol

Man I wanna play Alan Wake again

Haven't kept up with getting the free games. I tend to forget my log in details and I'm too unmotivated to send a password recovery request. I did buy a few egs exclusive games back in 2019-2020 but lost interest in all of them so don't really care if i can't use the store.

I do think steam is better because of the community post features for each game.

thats your opinion and i dont need community features at a store. I don't go to the grocery store to make friends, why would i care about chatting with folks who use the same game store as me?
