Any meal ideas? Succes stories? Tips?

Dont need any posts about fad diet or whatever, because i know. I know its just calories vs calories out so any "fad" diet works as long as you stick with it for long periods of times.

I just feel this sort of diet will work better for me at this period of my life and schedule. Im a big meal type of person so i think having just one big meal and not having to worry about the rest is good. I also like having fresh food so if i only have to worry about cooking something one time during the day when my wife gets home and eat a big meal, saves me some time.

I can't recommend the one big meal a day thing. Personally, it screws up my bowels and causes irregularities. Might sound crude, but when I eat more, I poop less. If that happens to you, it really screws with the idea of maintaining a decent schedule to do other stuff.

I do IF and my husband is doing OMAD. I think go with what works best for you. I cant do OMAD but my husband prefers that and is doing great on it.

I do 16:8 for IF but after a while I find Im not that hungry in between anymore. First few days are hard but it gets easier.

Ease into it. Start off doing a 16/8 routine until you get used to it, then if you can handle that, switch to OMAD.

I did a 16/8 fast for a few months as it worked for my working schedule.

It is a good way to really focus on what you are eating and trying to eat more healthy options.

At 3 meals a day, just a single good one a day. One meal, I was on and off the toilet all day. Which is what makes it hard for me to go back to a regular schedule when I fall back into the habit. The smart part of my brain recognizes a correlation between my eating habits and digestion. The caveman part says eat more, poop more even though the evidence doesn't support it.

Again, it might not be something that would be a factor for you, and I pray it isn't. Just don't be surprised if you notice a change after altering your eating schedule.

Cool. Thats good to hear!
Im at the 290-300lb range at 6'1 now. Lowest I was last time i lost weight was from like 280 to 198lb at the lowest.
Dont expect to go down there as fast as i did because i had so much time to work out before.

Another question, how did you guys time or feel when exercising with the fasting?

There's literally nothing magical about intermittent fasting. You eat less often so you likely eat less overall. It's as simple as that.

Treat any source that gives sciency-sounding explanations for how fasting works as dubious at best.

I dont care for OMAD. It winds up making me feel sick because I'm stuffing myself during that one meal. I guess if you ate high calorie foods it'd be easier, but I always pair it with a healthy diet.

So I basically do intermittent fasting. I'll eat a small 300ish calorie meal and a protein shake. Then like 2 hours later what I consider a normal sized meal. At your size, the shake most likely isn't necessary. Getting a handle on your macros is super easy once you get into it. I often have trouble fitting enough protein in without eating super lean. I can only shovel so much grilled chicken into my mouth.

Also, at your size I'd recommend just some small lifestyle changes to start. It's great that you want to dive right in, but you can most likely lose like half a pound a week by changing one or two flaws. That's up to you though. If you think you won't get discouraged by a drastic change, you'll definitely see better results.

I sometimes do IF. Drinking lots of green tea helps prevent afternoon hunger. Once you get through that initial craving your body is just like meh whatever and gets over it until later. IF is helpful because it's easy. Hunger is nothing. Boredom eating is the hardest to avoid imo.

Ignore people who think they're too smart for IF because nobody cares. It works and the built in structure makes it easy to see fast and therefore encouraging results. Very convenient for us lazy/cheap types who don't want to cook or spend money too. Probably start with 16:8 rather than dive into OMAD though.

Every time I do it I feel great.

I just can't really do it now cuz I work out in the morning so I like to drink a protein shake right after. And I like to eat dinner so I'm not starving in the morning before I lift.

I think it's best to start like 16-8 before moving on to 18-6 or 20-4.

Yeah i plan to do my fast or one meal at night because of my schedule. I also dont want to eat too much food right before bed so that shortens my window. So my prime eating times would be from like 5pm-8pm. I've never had a problem eating large amounts of food so i figured an OMAD would be best option for me.
Just having that one meal have my macros and calories for the day would be the thing i have to look out for. I know for lazy cooking days i can easily down a whole rotisserie chicken but i would like to get in a groove of picking nutritious sides to go with it.

For people who say to drink green tea. What actual kind of green tea do you drink or make?
Like actual hot tea from tea bag or what?

I liked that advice aboout not worrying about small stuff outside window like creamer.

Yeah i will probably aim to do the 3-4 hour eating window most of the time and OMAD when i have the meal i want planned out. Its just easy for me to eat a lot compared to other people so i think OMAD will probably be what i end up doing in a small eating window anyway.

I also figure i have a blender that will be handy in making a fruit and veggie dense protein smoothie if its too hard to get my vitamins and stuff.

Starting a warmup fast his week and see how i do since i have a cruise next week with family.

Day #1
Weighed in at 296.4lb

Woke up 7am, walked my baby in stroller for about an hour. Only had water and a cup of coffee with some stevia and sprinkle of salt.

Struggle with the fast will probably be in the next few hours when i get real hungry. Many times will doordash stuff because so convenient when watching my son during the day. Planning my dinner for the day. Ultimately want to get my calories in mostly 1 big meal, but might drink a protein shake around 5pm before i cook.

Any opinion on using stuff like stevie for drinks during fast? I cant drink coffee black yet lol.

Its all pretty much calories in vs out. So if you eat only once and its under your daily caloric need to stay the same weight, you can lose weight. You can also gain weight if you eat too many calories the one meal.

Harder depends on the person.
I was surprisingly okay fasting the 20hours since dinner last night. And i like big meals that make me full so since im eating all my calories in a short amount of time, i get to experience the fullness i like.

Some people do a eat whatever OMAD but its easy to not get your nutrients and other essential parts of your diet eating in a short window.
Eating a whole pizza would be enough calories for a day but its not really a lot of good stuff, although tasty

For me its the opposite. I can eat, and eat, and eat some more, and Ill be hungry again in 2 hours. My stomach is a bottomless pit, from which no food can escape.

OMAD on the days I work, my shifts are 1:30-10pm with the meal when I get home. I find that I have more energy while fasting and don't have to worry about bodily functions while at work. On my days off I tend to eat when I'm hungry, so might be 2 meals or 3 meals on those days.

My cholesterol was also getting out of control doing zero carb, and my doctor was going to put me on statins, even though my blood glucose levels had dramatically leveled off and I was no longer in the morbidly obese category, so I stopped doing zero carb, try to eat healthy but gained weight back.
