Obviously he SHOULD be in prison for what he's done, and I would love justice to actually be done. But, assuming the DOJ DOES actually get Trump imprisoned... he's just going to play the martyr card, endorse DeSantis or someone from prison, send his creepy cult of followers that direction, and WHEN his hand-picked republican beats Joe Biden, the first thing they'll do day one is pardon the fucker. If he's free, and the RNC just ices him out of the nomination: 1) it will split the republican vote 2) it will hopefully formally split the republican party when Toddler Trump decides to go Independent in protest 3) effectively cripples both Trump and the Republican party for years due to the infighting 4) denies him his martyr status that he wants so very very much Dunno, I just don't see a timeline where Trump going to jail actually ends well. I don't know about DeSantis. He seems more power hungry than your standard sniveling lackey. I think there's a chance once he's President, he lets Trump rot in jail in this hypothetical.
