hmm that sounds familiar. I think I was too young at the time to understand it properly (like 12-13).

In addition to my Zelda question above:

I wanna do a think on tactical shooters... and while I don't like xcom that much, there are others like the shadowrun remakes (for SRPGs) and Frozen Synapse (for pure strategy)

Then there's SOME Front Mission... and that's about it

I might have some in my Steam library if you just want to sort through it. They're not my kind of game anymore since tactical battles take way too long.

I love the equipment system in Transistor and would love to see a fleshed out version used in a longer game. Basically everything you pick up can be used as an attack, a modifier to an attack or a passive buff. You only get to use a given item in one mode and each one has an equip cost, so there's a ridiculous number of potential combinations that radically alter how your character plays.

Sounds fun.

The insanity effects from Eternal Darkness were awesome. It's one of the very few game mechanics that were designed specifically to screw with the player rather than the character. With the advancements in gaming, they could take it to a whole other level. A VR game with insanity effects would be badass.

Not really a unique mecahnic game since multiple games use them, but I find Timers to be intresting mechanics.

Specifically from Dead Rising, the timer there is widely hated by people and complaints ended up changing the later games to lessen and outright remove it even though I thought it was what set it apart from other zombie games that eventually ended up flooding the market, without it just became a wacky zombie killing simulator without any vestige of depth.

Pikimin 1 also had one but it was so lenient that the entire game could be 100% in less than 10 ingame days.

That was something I liked in Xotic - the whole game is about score maximization with limited time, but you could also just barely go for bonus time if you think it'll help your scoring.

I think I might just rage quit Rain World

...it's a good game, very pretty too, and it's pure exploration kinda like the Knytt games... and the enemies are really cool and so is the lighting

...

But it's hella annoying at all times

I'm pretty sure the game is trying to explain Hindu mythology, how a world of beauty is filled with bullshit platforming and random predators when you're most vulnerable... but if you just DIE a lot you, too, can be sperm.

Just started FF7 remake... and that intro is chilly; it's soooo good.

I got to enjoy Chapter 1 in 3D TV, but now I gotta turn the graphics down cuz my card is running hot... sure looked great though, I like when games have 3D optimization that's not VR

Probably still Borderlands 2, I've been replaying it on Switch.

Borderlands 3 is really great aside from the story and writing which are REALLY terrible so I still give the edge to BL2.

I like the battle gauge in Etrian Odyssey. The encounters are random but every step you take increases the likelihood of a battle. The gauge starts blue and the redder it get the more likely you are to battle after your next step. You weigh out each step.

Ya, Etrain Odyssey was pretty good. I like the FOE system in general, too

Shadowrun (the fps) as a whole really. A fps with magic was a cool concept. Coulda been great. The cyberware was cool too.

Yeah, you can get fried egg & chips at British Diners, & Cafes. I remember there being a joke on Are you being served based on it being the cheapest item on the menu, after the person who was going to pay for the meal leaving whilst they were ordering.

Don't really get them though, as I'm more partial to an omelette or a full english.

Best Atari games I played were Adventure, Combat, Pitfall, Vanguard, Solaris, and one I always forget the name of but you were an eagle in Egyptian times and picking up three hieroglyphics in different orders gave you different powers.
