That's when you're almost to your 30s and basically you're an old fart by then. Once you're 30 it's just a gradual decline.

These things aren't connected to me. You can pretend they are since Im not 40 yet. But that would just be you using the absense of evidence as truth with nothing to actually back it up.

And maybe you do represent the most. But I stated in the beginning I only care about me for this. It makes no since to care what depressing thing strangers convince themselves of. That does the opposite of benefit me. And allowing 40 year olds to convince me of something could be exactly what makes it a reality >_>. I throw all the depression takes out the window if there's nothing to actually back them up. My mom is62 and doesn't really hate anything that isn't immoral. And she's my biggest hero. So, that alone makes me more likely to have what you said be irrelevant to me.

Maybe you're not tying hating everything to depression. But it definitely doesn't help you out of depression if it comes for you

I was in "the smart class" my whole life, but definitely fell down the well of depression and procrastination and know plenty of other people who did the same. I scored in the 99th percentile on standardized tests and missed one question on the SAT. I came across one of those math olympiad questions on Youtube, one I definitely solved when I was 13-14, and just couldn't do it.

I'm much better at interpersonal connections, now, and would make different life decisions than when I was younger. But I was definitely more intelligent as a teenager than I am now. I think even disregarding the depression eating holes in my brain and lifestyle changes, I'd probably still be smarter at 16 than 30-something.

This article from MIT suggests different types of intelligence peak at different ages: https://news.mit.edu/2015/brain-peaks-at-different-ages-0306

I read a fun fact about the brain and how it starts to deteriorate when we get to twenty-seven or thereabouts. It got me thinking about my head and what I can do to help stimulate it. Makes me sad, but I've forgotten what I'm on about.

Why do you think we're alike?

And don't get me sideways. I want you to win. I want you to not "hate everything". I want you to experience all old things like they're new again. But, I feel like you're taking the path furthest away from the path that gets you there when you say shit like this. You also try to push negativity onto others, which will make everyone else aside from others who got no positive people left in their life either to chill with. Cause positive people get tired of letting negative people unwilling to be open to change around them as they age.

Iunno. All my milestones of personal growth are happy. Like the one this month when I finally broke free of a lot more social anxieties.

When you're overly negative you become a self fulfilling prophecy and everyone does end up sucking because that's the only people left that will deal with you. Everyone else is too busy laughing and talking stuff out in more supportive ways

I dunno man. What worked for me was just leaning away from negativity. Funny thing is, I just watched a movie earlier tonight where one of the main characters said "Being nice and sweet doesn't make me naive. It's strategic and necessary. It's how I fight". Which, I completely understand as someone who tries to follow that same path my whole life and has only seen the benefits it affords me.

One in which I already mentioned. Having supportive people around me who will also laugh with me. Someone might say "You're being used" sometimes. But they just sound like they never felt what it's like to be useful. It's a good feeling.

Obviously this has it's limits and you can't just do stuff for disingenuous people. But the same people who use you genuinely, will let you use them when you need them. Because being useful feels good. The world becomes more positive when you build this network around you that promotes positive mental growth (see, this is relevant to the topic :3). And 40 isn't too old to start build or keep building.
