I moved last month and I have been have issues with my animal friends that live in fish tanks ever since. My old turtle almost died , she was gone not moving and then some how she came back to life. But she still isn't looking well. By Baby turtle isn't eating. And I just got a catfish and it died hours after putting him in the water.

But he was also riding around with me today in the hot car so I could fucked up there. (and not I didn't go shopping with him in there are anything).

If it is my water I don't know what do to. I checked it and the only thing that was wrong was it had higher levels of Chlorine in it than normal. But that shouldn't be killing by dudes.

Yes it will:

Chlorine also, while not killing Turtles will irritate certain orifices, and their eyes which can cause stress and thus them not eating.

Also, to get rid of Chrlorine -- easiest way is UV (either a really expensive light, or you can just leave your water out in a glass dish, in the sun for a day -- make sure to cool it down before putting fish in!).

Thanks Klaus

To Pi. I did when my turtle got sick. But that was the first time ever she was in a tank with treatment. I use to live on well so I never used any treatment before.

You definitely need to use some water treatment with tap water. Any pet shop should have reptile specific or fish specific water drops to hand chlorine. Honestly, since you keep so many aquatic pets, I would also consider installing a reverse osmosis filter.

Bad water can be deadly to animals. It's why my wife and I don't keep frogs anymore.

Dang ever since I moved I have been having troubles. I changed the water today and filled the tank up. Thinking I would be able to the put a new basking area on top. But the parts I needed to make the area didn't come in. So I can't put them back in the water even if I wanted to. Since the water level is to high. So I guess I will dry dock them over the night. That should give time for the chemicals to leave.

I found a vet for one of my turtles. So that is a good thing, She really needs it. She sounds like Darth Vader (not meant as joke, but the best way to explain how she sounds). I have to drop her off and they will call me later in the day.

Get a 5-6 stage RO/DI unit.

It's crucial for saltwater fish keeping, we use it for 4 tanks, 2 salt and 2 fresh.

Water treatment stuff is usually only good to eliminate chlorine, there's a lot more stuff in tap water probably toxic to animals.

Or you can just use distilled water from the store but in the end the ro/di system will be more cost effective.

Good News

Took the Turtle to the vet. And she said that the turtle was stressed and he was making a hissing sound. I was worried about that I was thinking it was an issues with breathing.

But he did have a skin infection and I need to bath him and some keep him dry docked for a while. With my other turtle I have to keep him dry docked until I am make sure that water is clean.

So skin infection, bad water I am working on, giving him chemical baths. I hope that fixes him right up. I will keep my fingers crossed. But I know anything can still happen. But I know I tried my dammest.

And the Vet was so nice. I think I need to get a at home testing kit. Living on a well. I fish and turtles thrived just using that water. Now I have to learn what most fish and turtles keep learn right when they get into the hobby.

Can you link me to what you use. I was looking this stuff up and got super confused. I am not sure if goes in your sink or your tank.
