Yeah doctors that will inject you with steroids and numbing agents and get you hooked on tramadol (used to be hydrocodone or oxycodone before they got in trouble).

Your best best is probably nsaids and back stretches that you can find on YouTube.

Chiropractors are great for back issues. You really don't want to get treated by a real doctor unless your back is really screwed.
Surgery usually makes things worse just as often as it fixes things.

I was at the doctor yesterday. A few days ago I hurt my lower back (happens every few years or so), and he told me to take 3 or 4 Advil. He went to medical school for that.

What did you expect him to do? Give you Percocet and risk going to jail? Do surgery?

Your doctor probably sees a dozen or more people a week that say "my lower back hurts"

If you keep coming back he'll do an MRI/X-Ray to see if he needs to send you to a specialist, but unless you're limping in their all hunchback then there is literally nothing they are gonna go. Over half of adults have degenerative discs.

Nah, it was just some levity. Thats not even why I was there. He did give me some stretches and said it probably was not a degenerative disc. It was just funny to see this topic today, especially since I rarely go to the doctor.

Lose weight

back stops hurting

if there's one thing I'm sick of, it's 400 lbs patients complaining about their back. It's like complaining about a yard that needs to be cut but refusing to mow it.

also

chiropractors are not doctors

don't associate us with them

anyone who claims to fix everything with voodoo rubs and cracks is a snake oil salesman

in my experience doctors often don't explain what is going on or stuff like that. they just tell you if you should worry or not. they are jus kinda vague in general. I guess it depends what level of care you are on, and also maybe they don't want to make a poorly informed diagnosis and just want to avoid clear harm. idk
