When you go to sleep in a game, sometimes your character struggle to get asleep and get tons of cramps in the morning

Your turn

Not respawning

Taking damage comes with the possibility of injuries that mess with your ability to do anything else for the rest of the game

Dying when getting shot

Inability to traverse over shin-high obstacles.

I got the topic in reverse lol.

Physical limitations holding you back from progressing in the game because those take years of dedication and effort to overcome.

Fast travel being non existent

I was about to say "needing to find a toilet to poop" but then remembered Digimon World is one of the greatest games of all time, so it can't be that annoying.

Instead I'll nominate depression, or as Earthbound calls it, "homesickness". You literally become so goddamn sad you won't defend yourself against bloothirsty monsters, and the only cure is calling your mom. >_>

Sitting in bumper to bumper traffic for 40 minutes while trying to get to your destination.

Being rejected by a potential love interest because you're unattractive and uncharismatic.

Feeling anxiety talking to strangers.

You don't get hammerspace and actually feel the weight of your on-hand inventory.

invisible walls

Trying to find ammo in the world when you run out.

Taking a break from what you're doing so you can sit and have something to eat. Finding any excuse to delay what you should be doing so you can continue sitting.

Finding wall meat, eating it, and instead of gaining health, you get violently sick for 2 days, vomiting everywhere with a 103F fever (39.4C)

diarrhea.

A lot of things that are in RDR2.

Having to pay sales tax at shops and vendors

Actually having to spend the time learning how to do things. Especially physically, or even magically fighting against stuff to grind or level.

You have to learn to use multiple weapons, so multiple martial arts, plus magic. (if possible)

Then after that, spending hours refining tour abilities, trying to learn things and then trying not to forget shit like an important phrase or password someone might only say once.

WoW actually had this a bit. Until Cataclysm, weapon skills were a thing. If you got a two-handed axe that was better than your current weapon, but you never used two-handed axes, it would constantly miss until you axed people enough times.

You also couldn't even equip certain weapons until you trained them. Each class would have weapons they could equip, but they only started out knowing a few. You had to find a weapons trainer and have them teach you to use a weapon. Not all weapons trainers knew all weapon skills either, so you'd have to travel to multiple capital cities to learn them all.

Having to wait for things to be built. Imagine The Sims or Fallout 4 when you say you want an outer wall built you have to wait several days of real time for it to be completed in the game.

Nobody joins you because you're UGLY and ANNOYING and even the final boss thinks you're BORING and won't even fight you because of how PATHETIC you are.

I heard about a game that did that. Apparently once you won or died the game would intentionally corrupt itself and make it unplayable. What sucked worse was you had to choose between 3 characters

Mgsv does this with building bases and developing weapons/tools. Naturally you can buy in game currency to bypass the wait time.

I've barely touched it, but I know you can die in the tutorial by sticking your hand in a ceiling fan.

Audible farts of course alerts enemies

Honestly I would like this for a gimmick section.

The smell zones would have to give you away in an enemy wandered into them though, or at least start a search.
