notes:
-when listening to prospective UF8 mizuno nominations, I said I preferred the FM CMYK version to the original, which isn't the choice I'd typically make for a lot of tracks-- but I think the sharper sound of the FM arrange does this one a lot of good. there's an instrument that plays a wonderfully plaintive melody at 1:08; it doesn't quite feel as remarkable in the non-FM version. here, that plaintiveness hits you like a wave, and it's consistently what I find the most memorable about this track

I don't really like voting against CMYK and Jungle Joyride, they're both pretty cool songs. Match 3 is especially close.

The vocal mixing in In Hell We Live, Lament is rather bothersome, but it's a pretty decent song otherwise. Another Winter is fun, I like the e-guitar portions in particular. Think I'm gonna go with Another Winter for this one, but it's a pretty close match.

Mor Ardain is a fantastic theme. Definitely a highlight from Xenoblade 2. CMYK is also pretty nice, with a lot of interesting melodies and soundscapes. But it definitely doesn't hold a candle to Mor Ardain.

To The Heart is a ton of fun. And I really like the e-guitar solo. I really like the piano and cello parts of Jungle Joyride. It lacks a strong melody though. This is actually a pretty tough match for me. Think I'm leaning a bit towards To The Heart.

Slight bump-ups in scores for both In Hell We Live and CMYK today, definitely sounding better to me today! Never really noticed how CMYK sounds like a neat PC-98-esque song until now, good stuff.

To the Heart got a bump up as well; admittedly, even if Paradise (Stay Forever) has a bigger stake in my heart, I do like the overall presentation a lot and I do find myself humming the the bridge every now and then.

In Hell We Live is one of the few pet picks I've got left, match 3 is damn good though. Two great songs.

Sad I got home too late to save Abstract Map. Paradise Killer's vocalist is still not a convincing match for city pop. Good voice, weird application. Maybe it's in the mixing?

[9.5] If I were to compile a toplist of my favorite Sonic series tracks, this would definitely be up there, alongside the entirety of Sonic R and Shuffle, Adventure et al. Unleashed remains one of the most (if not the most) ambitious Sonic projects, and that star shines especially bright in the soundtrack. GAMELAN is one of the best instruments and it's consistently, ominously rolling in the back of the arrangement. Of particular note, the piano break at 1:35-- pay close attention when that starts because it's so easy to get lost in the visceral soundscape of this track. Though I wouldn't have it any other way, the sensation of being hopelessly, disorientingly lost in a sprawling jungle labyrinth, forged by the inconceivable hands of nature, is so expertly communicated here. Oops I wrote a lot for this one. Will gladly support

I don't necessarily expect this to count, but I was listening to the playlist last minute and thought the second song in the third match was Remember Me, which made it hard for me to make a quick decision. I prefer To the Heart over Jungle Joyride.
