Between service fees and a modest tip, costs me like $30 bucks to get a 16" papa johns pizza on grubhub, even with a $5 off coupon and no delivery fees, that's why i'd rather get like 6-8 frozen pizzas for the same price but im not good to drive rn and have no frozen pizzas on hand and i have the munchies for pizza lol

Ordering fast food in general is just expensive now. The only reason to eat them is to save time for yourself and convenience. I make a lot of food at home now because it's cheaper and healthier, but they can take hours to make since I have to make food for my grandparents that are staying over our house now as well.

This. Pizza shops have their own delivery drivers. You don't need a third party here.

i really only order pizza as a special treat or in cases like this where i don't have any frozen ones on hand, i've stopped going to fast food like 4 times a week also and go once or twice a week now for the convenience and cravings

That's assuming you're within their driving radius.

Places like GrubHub will let you order from farther away but it's not worth ordering from because the food will be cold/room temp by the time it would get to you anyway.

that seems to be the norm fo my province, may i ask what you tipped? i really only tip a couple bucks and then round up my spare change, but more often than not there only going like 3 miles to get to me.

I live in a specific part in the Los Angeles county. Apparently no Papa Johns near me does delivery and the ones that do don't deliver that far to my address.

Total was $38.68

I gave them $45

As I suggest to anyone and everyone, research local pizza shops. Many of the ones near where I live charge far less than your chain restaurants and the pizza quality is just as good, if not better.

Case in point, I order a jumbo half and half (half pizza, half garlic fingers) for 20 bucks Canadian. To order a jumbo pizza from dominoes its something like 35 dollars before coupons, and I won't even touch dominoes as their sauce is kind of gross here. Also, if your province has cheap Tuesdays, get your pizzas then.

Also, if you have a bbq, just buy a frozen pizza and cook it on the grill. It's not as good as restaurant pizzas, but it makes it taste pretty good.

Oh dang, for real? Papa Johns isn't my favorite, I personally like a local place called Rosatis that's about the same in terms of price as pj's but I think is much better than chain pizza

That actually looks pretty good for a cheap pizza. Love the tomato/basil, cant stand cheap sausage though, especially on pizza. Also love the pepperoncinis and that garlic sauce is disgusting good, pretty much makes any cheap pizza worth eating.

Isn't it the whole point of chain pizza to be cheap? I use Slice to get pies, total cost is less than $20 with delivery, and it's all privately owned, homegrown stuff.

Grubhub and the like all have crazy overhead of at least 10$, so they're not any good if you're just getting pizza.

I wish I could still do this.

Every single pizza restaurant has blacklisted my neighborhood, lol. Pizza hut stopped coming out this way since the mid 90s, and papa johns was the last hold out and stopped around 2011ish.

*All the dumbasses out here that liked to mess with delivery drivers either got locked up, dead, or has long since moved away years ago, but once an entire neighborhood is blacklisted its apparently a life-time thing*

Pizza is the only thing I won't mess with on grubhub/door dash/uber eats etc. because those prices is stupid high just for a one topping large pizza. Thankfully I have a local italian joint I go to thats about a 5 minute drive from my house and for those days when we are all lazy they are actually reasonable on door dash.

Yeah. Not going to deny that the teenagers during the mid 90s was always wild'n the fuck out and was most likely always robbing the delivery people in those days. Hell we had a nice convenience store that I used to love riding my bike to as a kid at one of the entraces to the suburbs we live at and the same group of guys got that place to permanently close down also because they kept robbing the damn place.

It was bad enough that the cops actually built a small police station at the baseball field. Well the city wanted the suburbs I am at cleaned up anyway since that huge baseball field was constantly used by the city in general and they didn't want all those knuckleheads around the kids. I'd say around 2005 or so was when the truly asshole'ish people was cleaned out (although papa johns was like fuck it at some point all after the fact) and all thats left here is mostly elderly people, families, and certain houses that sell weed.

Like I said before though, once a neighborhood is blacklisted like that then its not removed ever, so despite it being nowhere near as crazy as it was in the 90s no delivery pizza for me. Stuff like grubhub/door dash etc. is the best we got.
