I spent a long time even trying to choose the base color for it. I know I had a pretty rough time on the shorts. I was never good at doing denim, but dangit, I tried to the best of my ability here, ha. Color is one of those things that I do by ear. I really should take the time to watch videos on it and actually get a grasp on what I'm doing. Are you doing the colors digitally? If so there's no shame in color correcting, hell I do it all the time; just play with the saturation a bit and see how you like it. That's also reason #2,971 that I split things up into different layers whenever possible, makes it easier to isolate / alter specific parts of the illustration. If you have the jacket / shorts color on their own layers you can even do a color overlay - pick an entirely different color instead of just adjusting the existing color. (mind you this advice, and probably all of my advice, is specific to Photoshop. I ended up being really unhappy with her face; I have that problem a lot where things look great proportionally in lineart, but once the details and shading are added, everything looks just off enough to bug me. Gonna adjust the eye size, nose and mouth position and redo the coloring next time I get a chance to work on this (also need to redo the neck, that turned out really off).
